Christian Teens in public school

Hello John. How are ya?

I am a Christian teen in a public school, up here in southeastern MA , and let me tell ya, its no picnic being a christian in a public school. Im on the shy side a bit so Im not exactly the teen witnessing in the middle of the hallways, but neither do I keep quiet if someone questions me about my beliefs. I do speak up when I need to, or when the opportunity comes.
One experience I had in school with witnessing was last year in my math class(im a past sophomore by the way..will be junior). I remember we had a free period and most of us were sitting in the back of the class, just talking or playing cards. Well, someone came up with the topic to talk about God and Jesus. I listened to their views a bit(most of them not even believing in God. Just me and this one girl were christians in the class), then I started to say my view. I told them about what I believe and that the only way to Heaven is through Jesus(amen?? ), and so it really got some people thinking alot about what I said. And they began to ask me questions, like how do you become saved, and how do I believe God exists, and man, didn't I feel just great that day. Like I did something great for God..which I did. I did what God calls us all to do-Tell others about HIM.
And that one day, I believe, what I said will stay in their minds for life, and they will think back on what I said. The seed has been planted, now it is their choice to accept it or not. And I pray that they do.

To comment on your statment about "Christian" teens not going to Bible studies, not witnessing, not going to prayer-Don't be so quick to judge, just because you may not have ever seen them witness. Many of these teens, although they may not go to every Bible study or mission trip, God sees their heart, and believe me, many of them ARE witnessing somewhere to someone...like in Public Schools

I'm with Candi here I am a teen in Publik school. And I try to witness. I am a top student at my school. Dallas it is hard. We have FCA and Casiu and it seems like we have different people everytime in the Casiu meetingd, because they are before school. FCA is different it has the lowest dues of a club at school. There are lots of members. I know alot of them are not saved, like I said I try to witness to them."oh I'll be alright because I go to that Methodist church on wednesday night for the teen thing"(I have actually heard that out of someone.) I really wish I had more help at school. There are 3 other people from my church I don't see much witnessing going on. I have talked to them about witnessing to others it just doesn't seem like it happens.

I am Christian teen in Public School. Most people think that the public school system is corrupt and evil. I will admit there are some very bad things that go on, but it had made me stronger in my faith and my testimony. I feel that now that I have been exposed to this side of the world it helps me know what I don’t want to be like and what your world is like with out Christ.
In my school they are very strict about preaching in school. The basic rule is they don’t allow it, last year I was suspended for telling other students about the gospel, giving them bibles and praying with them. I was doing this with students that approached me and wanted to hear about Jesus Christ. The school felt that if I wanted to do this I needed to do it on my own time and not during school hours. Even though I was not disrupting classes or teachers I was doing this during our open campus lunches or during our time between classes. It has been a rocky road and it would have been allot easier for me to go to a Christian school but I wouldn’t be able to do the things that I have accomplished at my public school. I feel that the school I go to is a blessing and I thank God everyday for the opportunities he has given me to show more people to him. This will be my last year, as a senior I want to have made and impact on peoples life’s for Christ. I hope to continue my journey though college and beyond.

Hey there. I'm in public school at Gaffney high....also the middle of nowhere! Hehe this town is known for the highschool football team, and our peach water tower!
I think being in the public school has made my wittness stronger. I'm not nearly so shy anymore! Most of em by now are used to seeing "grandma Abby" and her Bible along with her text books.
I have interesting results with wittnessing that's for sure! Some of the kids accept me and seem to like me and care about me, some wonder about my mental condition, some seem afraid of me {go figure! I mean some of these people everytime I see em look away and walk faster!} and then some plain out hate me I think! I was talking with one guy once and he told me if I ever did again he'd knock me out on the floor....hehe, he was about a foot taller than me and had leaned down about two inches from my face. I'm thinking "Lord, if he does, so help me, let me get up praising you." Needless to say I never did speak to him agian...mainly cause I wouldn't have recognized him anyway! (I'm sorry but when someone does that I've just got to say "Lord they're all Yours now cause I did try."}
There was one who when I ran an errend for a teacher, placed my Bible at the bottom of a recycle bin during a class change {needless to say quite a few people were helping me find it, and thank the Lord we did.} Now I don't have too much of a problem with someone playing a joke on me. Thank the Lord I've got some sense of humor, and half the time when they make up a joke about me, I laugh too. Might as well, it won't do me any good to let it bother me. But see I have this problem about people that give disrespect to God and His word...a big one.
Out of four years of being saved, I've had one teacher attend revival services with me, and one friend who came to some services at church {she actualy wanted to keep coming but her mom wouldn't let her. }
Despite all of it I love those bunch of kids and I don't think a person could be happier than me if some of them would get saved.
My biggest problem wittnessing to anyone at school or anywere is that half the time I can't talk about Calvary without crying. Now I hope that Calvary and my Saviour always touch my heart, although some people look at me like I've left my senses. Oh well!
There have been times I've kinda felt it was in vain all I tried. But then I remember God's Word never returns unto Him void. It always does what He purposed it to do.
I may never see the fruits of my labour now. I may never personaly lead any of them to Christ. But I can hope and pray that God can use something I said or a tract I gave someone years down the road to convict them and save them. I know one thing! I ain't about to give up by His grace! God's brought me too far to turn back now, so by His grace I'll go forward for His glory!
But if any of you ever think of it, please remember me and these kids in prayer. I need grace daily, cause I can't do anything with out my Lord's help.

Hi John! I WAS A high school student just last year. My dad is the youth pastor at our church, and believe me, there is no real answer for that last question. Dad feels a lot of it is "parental encouragement/example" a lot of the kids who don't do squat for the Kingdom normally don't have parents that do squat. I'm not talking about the kids with lost parents... they're all for it, but the kids that have grown up in hte church are a little different. They act as if working for God is "beneath" them.


Just my thoughts. I'm in no way bashing these people.
