Christian's Vs Hostile's In Politics

With each election cycle, whether it's a general or midterm election, it seems like there are those certain Christian's who's one-size-fits-all answer to everything political is prayer, prayer and more prayer. Yet, when you ask them if they're interested in volunteering for a
candidate who's favorable public stand with pro-life, or the right to keep and bear arms, pro-homeschooling, and just favors general liberties and more protections for religious liberty, these same Christian's will say: "Oh no, I can't. I really can't. That's for someone else
to do. My place is here in the Lord's house."

What good is "being in the Lord's house" when the government comes looking for you, for
example, to take you away to unknown location for an attitude adjustment? That's an extreme example for sure, but even so, who would fight for you then?

Then there are those who will not enter a government building wearing a Jesus button on their lapel or wearing a T-shirt glorifying God because they are convinced it's a violation of separation of church and state.

We have too many Christian's sitting around, twiddling their thumbs, while everyone else does the dirty work, because such Christian's don't want to get their manicured hands dirty. The world doesn't mind getting down and dirty in the mud to get their point across, and they usually win. Then we wonder why our foundations of morality and liberty are always in peril.

I take no prisoner's when dealing with hostile, unsaved people. I don't make excuses for their conduct, as some more passive Christian's would do. I simply remember what Paul wrote in Romans 1: 18-32. Unsaved people, no matter what their station in life, no matter how evil they are, they have the Law of God written on the tablet's of their heart. It's called the conscience of knowing right from wrong, so they are without excuse.

Yes, I do exercise discretion. There are truly unsaved people out there looking for real answers and I'm happy to share it with them, making Christ No. 1.

I consider evangelizing the lost as the best way to change hearts and minds. If you want to get more people to be pro-life, get their minds set on eternal life and this issue will fall into place.

Christians do not support abortion. Lead more people to Christ and there will be less abortion. Same thing for a host of other issues.

I wouldn't rely on political activism to change people's viewpoints. Especially not "getting down and dirty in the mud". God giving them a new heart is the best way.

Many seem to forget the lessons learned in the Prohibition battle. A battle was won. But the lost still had a thirst only the Savior could quench. And when He didn't they attended the Church of St. Alphonse d'Capone.

Prayer is tremendously important. We call on God for Him to work His will out in the world. We also yield ourselves to God to be transformed into people who can make a difference by our character and actions.

Who are these Christians who claim they are "in the Lord's house." I'm not even sure what that means.

As for me, I have a hard time getting involved in political campaigns in North Texas because my choices are Tea Party candidates or strongly liberal candidates. As a political moderate (actually, my political stance does not fit into a common contemporary position), I am a complete outsider to both extremes.

What good is "being in the Lord's house" when the government comes looking for you, for
example, to take you away to unknown location for an attitude adjustment? That's an extreme example for sure, but even so, who would fight for you then?
I fight for the political issues I feel strongly about from the OUTSIDE of the political parties. I take a prophetic position where the political parties and candidates have to earn my vote if they want my support.

Then there are those who will not enter a government building wearing a Jesus button on their lapel or wearing a T-shirt glorifying God because they are convinced it's a violation of separation of church and state
Who are these people? I suspect they don't exist.

We have too many Christian's sitting around, twiddling their thumbs, while everyone else does the dirty work, because such Christian's don't want to get their manicured hands dirty.
If you're doing hard work, I'm fine with joining in for hard work. If you are doing "dirty work," I want no part in works of darkness.

The world doesn't mind getting down and dirty in the mud to get their point across, and they usually win.
Ultimately, they will not win.

We are not called to win. We are called to be faithful - to be salt and light. To be heralds of the kingdom that is already here and the kingdom that will destroy the works of darkness and all other kingdoms.

Then we wonder why our foundations of morality and liberty are always in peril.
The world is broken. Prostituting ourselves to the world's methods makes us unfaithful to Jesus.

I take no prisoner's when dealing with hostile, unsaved people. I don't make excuses for their conduct, as some more passive Christian's would do. Yes. That's why it is important that we demonstrate with our character, words and actions that we represent what God is doing in the world, not necessarily what a political party or candidate wants to do in the world.

There's nothing inherently wrong with political parties or politicians, but we need to be careful how we align ourselves.

Yes, I do exercise discretion. There are truly unsaved people out there looking for real answers and I'm happy to share it with them, making Christ No. 1.
Fantastic! I try to do the same. But we must remember that we are given to Christ (not just "making" him first), and that must reflect His character in everything we do and say.

And the church said AMEN!

And Zaac in consideration of your post #5 what would you have us do in the mean time before the world is turned to Christ?

EXACTLY. Politics is NOT the answer.

Ok, so legalize murder, armed robbery, rape, kidnapping, et al? Just convert the criminals and these things will stop?

For someone who say politics is not the answer, you post a lot about what the answer ain't.

What do you mean in the mean time? Did Christ give you a Commission or did He place something else on your plate? You're here to point folks to Christ. So in the mean time and every other time, keep pointing. Evil is to be combatted God's way, not man's.

Government will continue doing what it believes deters, and will continue making laws to do so and fix what it thinks is wrong.

But the sin issue is to be fought by God's people in God's way. And we must not lose sight of that especially right now.

It's GOD'S prescribed method. If you think you know better than HIM, take it up with Him. [emoji3]

So yes, I believe if we make disciples who are obeying everything He commands, disobedience will cease.

For someone who say politics is not the answer, you post a lot about what the answer ain't.

Usually to say that ain't the answer so we need to stop acting like it is. My gosh, we should still be embarrassed that evangelicals supported a man who rejects Christ only to follow that up with another one.
