I was wondering I have noticed so many Christians agaisnt immigrants. Many upset that Hispanics are coming to the United States to make a living. I was wondering is that right for Christians to be agaisnt immigrants coming over and making a decent living for their families.

Thanks !! What do you think?

I would have no objection to the legitimate immigration.
Do we have to help the illegal immigration?

I am against imigrants in any way (don't agree with them all the time), but I am against how some come to this country illegally to make a living.

We have a friend who has come to this country legally wanting to stay in America. She has been trying to stay here for a long time. Finally, a lawyer (I believe) told her that it would be easier for her to be a citizen by leaving the country and returning illegally. That is totally wrong.

I do not oppose immigration. I wish we would make it easier for responsible people who want to be AMERICANS to come into this country, learn the basics of being a U.S. citizen, and being documented so that they are able to pay taxes and help support our country.

I oppose criminal activity. Illegal immigration means that at the very moment the trespasser crosses our borders, s/he is a criminal. One of the things that is slowly destroying this country is that laws are becoming less and less laws. The last thing we need is more people with no respect for laws -- but who also have no loyalty to our country as opposed to theirs, and who have no intention of doing anything other than take money out of our country.

Summary: immigration is good, and criminal activity is bad.

So far I have not seen that --

Maybe it is something local to your area.

Illegal immigration --

Example --

Someone breaks into your home during the night. When you awaken in the morning you find that they ate all the food in the frig - but they also cleaned the living room.

Now they claim they have the right to live in your home as a member of your family - and that this is only fair since they prefer to live in your home vs living in their own.

I myself PREFER the model where we get to INVITE people in --

in Christ,

Bob

Tali I would have to agree with what others have said so far. I don't see and haven't heard of many Christians or any for that matter that are against immigrants. However there are a lot of people Christian and non-Christian alike that are concerned with illegal immigrants despite their nationality.

I think one of the biggest dangers to accelerating the fall of the US is the increased idea of the melting pot. The more that folks think of themselves as something other than American first the faster the country will fall.

A house divided against itself can not stand. Isn't that the old saying?

I think a lot of the focus is on hispanics because especially in the south there is so much emphasis placed on the English and Spanish language both. Everything has to have a Spanish option and an English option.

But I don't think that it's because Christian's dislike the people per se.

I'm not against immigrants. Most of us have ancestors that were immigrants. They came through Ellis Island and went right to work. They learned the English language, did not demand we change to their ways (they learned our ways), and they did not go on welfare.

I AM against illegal immigrants and I am against the people who hire them. They are both breaking the law.

The melting pot idea, as I understand it, is an acceptable concept. The idea is that people come from many cultures and they melt into the new culture. They do this by becoming naturalized citizens and they give up their allegiances to their former nations in favor of an allegiance to this one. Illegal immigration does not encourage melting, it encourages the violation of the laws of one country and the maintenance of allegiance to the former country. If we are to pick and choose which laws are the ones worthy of following and which we can discard, then we will not have a nation of law but will have a lawless nation.

"Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;" - 1 Peter 2:13

There is an ordinance that prohibits the illegal entry of foreign nationals into the United States of America and there is an expectation that this ordinance be abided by and that our leaders enforce it. If there is no desire to enforce it then our leaders should be honest and declare that the United States of America no longer exists and we are now a new nation with a southern border separating us from Guatemala and Belize rather than Mexico.

I also agree that Christians do not dislike Mexicans per se. The Mexican culture was once a proud, and strong Christian culture. However, they let Roman Catholicism into their midst which has effectively destroyed it. Now we have 20 million Roman Catholics crossing the border and with the first step they take into this nation they have become criminals. If they are unconcerned about one law, then why would they be concerned about other laws? Thus, we have multitude of rapes, manslaughter, murder of civilians, murder of police officers, drunkenness and all types of villainy. Then if the illegal runs to Mexico and is at risk of life imprisonment or capital punishment the Mexican government provides protection to their citizen. If a Mexican can come into the United States break her laws and then run back to Mexico then it would seem apparent that these individuals never melted.

Yeah I should have worded it a little better. The old concept was that everbody jumped into the pot and they all melted until they became American. Now everyone is in the pot, but the fire's been turned down so low that there's no melting going on. No assimilation taking place. Therefore you have all kinds of ______________-Americans. And you can fill in the blank with anything.

Ok. So we all of us had the opportunity to vote for any Immigrant to come to the US without any restriction. Would you do that? Then they wouldnt be breaking the law.

A caller to Glenn Beck nailed it;

People immigrate to the U.S. via Ellis Island, in full view of the Statue of Liberty. We shut the borders & enforce the laws passed last October. That's the will of Americans.

So you think only white and black Americans, and those natural born who either of Caucasian or African descent, should be in this country ?
Koreans who were born here should get out, Hispanics who were born here should get out, Pakistanis, Indians, Chinese, Mongols, etc., should not be here ?
Clarify, please.

All I am saying is WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?

Would he sit there and place borders and now allow other nationalities to come into the US or would he do all he could to support Immigrants so that it would be Legal for all Immigrants to come to the US. See the reason i am saying is because Many Christians and not ALL.. but Many that I have encoutered. They hide under the Its illegal so its not right so I dont support it. Well Abortion is Legal and we dont support it. So thats just an excuse most of the time. I think any immigrant that is looking for a better situation in life should be allowed to come into the US.

How many of the 6.5 billion people in the world would qualify as "looking for a better situation" and how long before that "better situation" no longer existed and it became just like every other third world nation?

Have you seen this?

Then they need to learn our language, get a job, and start immediately studying for the test to be come a citizen of the United States.

I believe that Jesus would not want us to be lawbreakers of our country. There is a legal way to do it, and I don't believe that we should award those who break our laws with a fast track to citizenship.

Ok.. Maybe I didnt as the correct question.

Most as saying that its illegal for them to come here. I read one that stated they need to learn our language, get a job ext.

Ok..

The point is, God is an awesome God. He is a God of awesome Glory and Power. Should we as Christians do all we can to contact our Goverment Officials so that these Immigrants may come to the US legally. I mean in reality if we say that we dont agree because they come in illegally but have never done anything to try and make it legal then we cant judge them for trying to come in.

Would Jesus Say No to a Immigrant who is trying to find a better home in the US. Would Jesus Say No??? Would Jesus Judge him because he cannot speak English?? I am sure, in fact I know there are many Christians that live in Mexico that wish they could have a better life here in the US. They are also washed by the Blood of Christ. Regardless of Language.

Would JESUS say No??

Actually Jesus would say no, because again these folks are violating the government laws, which is not okay according to Scripture.

There is a legal way to come to this country. Granted the legal way is probably just as messed up as the illegal immigration problem or close to it, but it's still what it is legal. Go through the process or stay in your home country.

Come here the right way and few people will say anything about it.

God Bless!!!

I agree Jesus would say no to breaking the laws however he would do as much as he could to give them access to come in. All I am saying is :

Why are so many Christians agaisnt United States granting full access for Immigrants to come in legally. I mean I have hear Christians saying that these Immigrants are taking their jobs and some other crazy stuff. However I mean as Christians should we really talk that way about Immigrants. Shouldnt we do the best we can to help that process become easier for them. I mean once again Abortion is Legal but that doesnt make it right.
