I got a big ole fat ticket one time--doing 69 in a 55 up US Hwy 61 from Woodville to Natchez--I asked the trooper if he clocked me goin' uphill or was it downhill?? It didn't seem to matter which way I was going to him--

Whatsoever a man sows that will he also reap!

Sorry, Lorelei but I'm to short of time to look up all the scriptures but just think about what you asked.
What happens to a Christian who commits adultery?
Eventually heartache, broken marriages, social diseases, etc.
What happens to a Christian who steals?
Jail, guilt, shame, a bad name.

This is why God tells us not to do these things, besides being sins against Him.

What about later?...

Will he burn in Hell, work it off in Purgatory....

No, he'll be forgiven.

A Christian who sins is chastised.

Hebrews 12

4 ¶ Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.
5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:
6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.
9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

 

Anytime we break a *law* there are consequences.

When we break God's law,it is called sin. Sin has many consequences--suffering,being one. For example,if someone marries an unbeliever,they live with the consequences and suffering of that man's life,like not being the spiritual head of the home,his sinful lifestyle that is painful to her,etc.

Also,as Aaron has mentioned,there will be discipline from God. God hates sin and he is teaching us to hate it,too.

When we live a life os selfishness,without regard for God's laws,statutes,and commandments,we will know the wrath of God...
