Christmas Challenge?

Here's my challenge: On Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, tell someone "Peace on earth, good will to men." Feel free to add "Christ died for me and you." Then come back to this thread and tell us what happened.

I know it's kind of silly. I'm curious to see how it turns out. If you're at all interested, then give the challenge to someone else, and let us know how it turned out for them.

My computer has the "English Lanuage Police" program which infomed me the phrase of the above should read: "Christ died for you and me.

I just wonder why we only think of these things around Christmas and Easter when it should be an everyday occurrence instead of something to check off our Christian " to Do" list.

In all honesty, because we were singing a song in church yesterday morning, and I heard those words, and was inspired with the message I posted today. I apologize for not being inspired all the time.

Oh if only Jesus had come as a Reagan Republican spouting against abortion and homosexuality and all things anti-Obama instead of as the loving Savior of the world. Perhaps that would have been more inspiring all year round for today's evangelical church.

Do you mean say that to someone we know who will accept the message in a positive way, to someone we are sure will be unaccepting of it, to someone we think will be hostile toward it, or to someone we have no idea of how it will be taken? Or maybe one of each category?

Nope. As was said in "Pirates of the Carribean": "more of a guideline than actual rules."

And the next part, until Zaac decided to jump in with his Mr. Negativity routine, was to extend the challenge to once a month. But hey, us Obama-hatin' racists have got to stay in character and remain mean and nasty year-round.

Sure. But I'm pretty sure I already have, a number of times, and been met with stares as if I'm an alien.

I tend to get really specific on stuff like that and go with exactly what the greeting should be. :laugh:

It may also be fun to go with "BEHOLD! I BRING YOU GOOD TIDINGS OF GREAT JOY!" and then see if anyone comes over and asks what the news is. (though they'd probably just arrest you out here for not having a permit to hold a public gathering...)

Perhaps you just took it negatively because you don't do it all the time and have to be inspired to do what you're suggesting only at certain times of the year?

I said it was an excellent idea and simply wondered why wait for Christmas and Easter to do this?

I find it ridiculous how Christians have to be told to do what they should already be doing as another lil task to check off and pat themselves on the back for being such good Christians.

Do folks not need to know "Peace on earth, good will to men" and "Christ died for me and you" any other time of the year or only when certain Christians feel the need to make themselves feel more Christian because of the Christmas or Easter season?

Not saying that yours is, but people tend to view this sort of thingas disingenuous. Where were you the rest of the year?
