BTW, meant to add: If you're a pastor, please share your comments.

Also, if anyone wants to add ideas for pastoral gifts, please feel free. [IMG]

In 32+ years in full-time ministry, almost ALL we've gotten a cash (non-taxable) love gift from the congregation. They work around a card and envelope for everyone to sign and contribute to as they feel led. Think that I don't see it. Duh. I act surprised!

Usually some in the congregation gift other non-monetary gifts. LOVED a deacon in my first church that gave us 1/2 beef! And the church love offering was enough to buy a chest freezer. What a super thoughtful gift. :D

My present church is giving us a Christmas gift subscription to U-Haul Magazine and is going to paper the study in road maps.

Our church usually gives us a bonus, and then others also give gifts as well. Last year, we got enough to get this computer. The year before that, they gave my husband a gift certificate for two new suits and gave me cash. Pretty good for a small church, huh? To me, its not what they give us at Christmas - its the way they are a happy healthy church all year round that no gift can top.

Taterlot The greatest bonus one can get is the love of God. And to be able to share with others the fellowship of the Holy Spirit. You and your husband are very rich people indeed, may you both continue to share with your congregation a merry Christmas

SheEagle--this is your first cousin Blackbird,

We've never had a church that didn't give us a love offering--like our dear Doctor Doctor Griffin! We usually use it to buy clothes--sometimes a dress, skirt/blouse/shoes for the wife, for the kids--or a jacket and slacks for myself.

I ain't an avid "hunter"--as in deer, rabbit, squirrel, etc--I do hunt but don't go overboard with it--but I often tease my wife about finally buying that Remington 870 12guage pump shotgun "she" has always wanted!!!!!! Hint! Hint!

    Your cousin,
    Blackbird

Our church gives our pastor a cash gift each year, I thnk it's about $1,000, but we're big enough to be able to do t. Then different people give them a gift.
I'd be open to ideas for this year.
