Christmas

The leftists have created a PC world that virtually no business can be everything to everyone. They constantly search for the path of least offence. I feel for them.

 

It's a business decision. The few who are "offended" by a general holiday greeting rather than by a religious message, aren't significant.

Everone's "offended" by something these days. Is if OK if I'm "offended" by so many people being "offended" over a greeting?

Merry Christmas.

 

Christmas is a single day. It is not a month of greed, commercialism and bullying...well, it shouldn't be.

Peace on earth, good will towards men is not accomplished by being preoffended lest some cashier not affirm your majority cultural status by reciting the magic words.

 

Businesses don't want to drive away anyone's business. Since several religious and non-religious holidays occur in the late December timeframe, and as a business, they need to be somewhat generic in their greetings. How hard is that to understand. It isn't a slighting of Christians, it is recognizing their customers have various beliefs, and they value all of their customers. Besides, as most of us know, Jesus wan't born on December 25...the date was co-opted and overlain on other holiday celebrations (winter solstice, Saturnalia, etc.). So I don't see the big deal here.

 

I am not offended that the secular world ignores Christ. I kinda expect it. I am more offended that many liberal "Christians" ignore scripture in favor of a kinder-gentler, politically correct post-modern heresy.

I'm sure they want to sell Christmas presents, along with Channukah and Kwanzaa presents as well. If they could make money in Mecca, I'm sure they would consider your suggestion.

 

Yes Daisy I agree, Christians should look at this as being an oppurtunity to spread the message instead of wasting time being offended. It is sad that Merry Christmas doesn't mean much these days as to be nothing more than a Holiday greeting. If you want to say Merry Christmas and really mean it go help the homeless, the poor and the downtrodden and then wishing them a Merry Christmas will have meaning.

Not offended but it tells me who to witness to. I don't chase them down but if I get within earshot again I slip in a, "you know Jesus?"

Did Jesus expect the Pharisees to fall down and worship Him? Why do you expect non-Christians to share our beliefs? Why is everything you don't agree with either politically correct or liberal? This is the way the world treats our Savior. This is the way the Bible said things would be for Christians.

 

May I insert a small thought here.........

Just remember, Do not take it out on the poor cashier. They more than likely agree with you and want to say Merry CHRISTmas but the boss says not to say it. Continuely telling the cashier everywhere "Merry Christmas" won't really help the situation. Writing the corporate office does.
I hear people all the time militantly saying Merry Christmas to cashiers like they are angry at them. Remember, it's not their fault.:wavey:

 

The longer we can focus the worlds attention on the birth of our Savior, the better, as long as it starts AFTER Thanksgiving. :thumbs: IMHO

 

It's not the birth but the rebirth that we should focus on.

Do you spend the month before Easter insisting that cashiers wish you a 'Joyous Easter' lest you boycott their employer in a snit?

 

It is just as likely that those who were offended by "merry Christmas" were insignificant in numbers as well.
