Church openings

After more than 2 months with closed doors due to the virus quarantine, Crossing Community Church is having a corporate service on our campus, one of the first in our area.

HERE’S WHAT WE’LL BE DOING:
  • Hand sanitizer will be provided at multiple locations, as well as self-serve bottled water.
  • Masks will be required for those who need to enter the building. Outside, masks are encouraged, but not required. Still, we are going to ask that people wearing masks and not wearing masks sit in the designated areas. Masks will be provided for those who do not have one, but need to enter the building.
  • The main building will remain closed except for restroom use or leaving offerings in the downstairs offering box. Restrooms will be cleaned before the service and once during, and will be limited to two (2) people. Main doors to the building will be propped open.
  • Chairs will be provided for those who do not bring their own, but they will not be set up. To eliminate unnecessary touching, chairs will be stacked near the building, and families will be free to get them, set them up, and return them after.
  • There will be ten (10) reserved parking spots along the curb for people over 65, or immunocompromised, who would like to watch from the car. To reserve a space, call our office or email .
  • We won’t pass out bulletins or lyric sheets. Get signed up to receive the e-bulletin if you don’t already, and make sure you have a Crossing Family Hymnal. All songs will come from the hymnal. Download the PDF to view on your device, or print it and bring it with you. Printed copies are available for $5; preorder yours in the church office (by check or online payment). No cash transactions will be made on Sunday morning.

WHAT WE NEED YOU TO DO:
  • Be good at social distancing. When you arrive and set up your chairs, sit with your family, and at least six (6) feet away from other family units. (And remember to sit in the right area: whether you’re wearing a mask or not wearing a mask.)
  • Get here a little early. There will be a lot of distractions as people are arriving and setting up after the service has begun. Help us minimize distractions by getting here and getting situated early. Don’t forget the front row of parking will be reserved; all lots will be open.
  • Stay home if you’re not healthy! We know you’re eager to come back, and we miss you too. But if you’ve had a fever, cough, or any symptoms of illness in the last 14 days (or anyone in your house has), please watch online, then join us when it’s safest to do so.
  • Be mindful that we may have new people with us. There may be seekers awakened to spiritual things during this pandemic. Or there may be people from other churches yet to re-open. Either way, let’s show them what it means to be part of the Crossing family!
  • Show grace and love to your brothers and sisters. There are very differing opinions on the severity of, response to, and path forward following this virus. Let’s respect each other and consider others better than ourselves (Philippians 2:3). Our being together in body will be meaningless if we are not together in spirit.
  • And be flexible and gracious with us! We’ve never been in this situation before, so as new information becomes available, we may need to make adjustments along the way.

This is an exciting time for many people.

What, if any, changes has you congregation made in response to the quarantine, and what are the plans for reuniting in the future?

What’s changed with this Covid thing that allows churches to open?

We never closed.

We temporarily stopped hand shaking.

The Pastor advised those that felt like they should stay home to stay home. We've been live streaming for many years.

We placed hand sanitizer in many places.

We deep cleaned the church regularly.

We trusted the Sovereignty of our Lord.

To date, zero cases of the virus. God is good and to be trusted.

They have lowered our alert level recently.
The number of cases in the county continue to fall.

The plan was submitted to the local authorities and our county’s district attorney.
Outdoor service!

Personally,
1) Since I am working in the community and have a lot of contact with strangers,
2) I’m among the older group
3) I recently had a medical procedure,
I will not be attending... I’ll be watching via the internet.

Well Crossing is close enough for you to visit! We are on the ‘other side of chaos’ from you, not far the Newtown exit of 295 in Pennsylvania .

Not sure where xlsdraw is.

Rob

I could visit .... but my people are from Newton (Sussex County) where my wife’s from. And it isn’t perfect by any stretch. I would visit if I could bring back what youse guys do that we don’t, (like AA).

Come up here to NJ and NY... we will get ya infected. You could then bring it back to Florida.

This week I was at:
A receiver in Allentown, PA,;
A shipper in Cranbury, NJ;
A receiver in Farmington, NY;
A shipper in West Seneca, NY;
A receiver in Mt Crawford, VA;
A shipper in Winchester, VA;
Headed to a shipper in Statesville, NC;
Will deliver in Winter Haven, FL Sunday at noon;
And Lord willing, will be at church Sunday night.
The good Lord was with me every mile.

Now where did you go this week?

Just told my wife about 2 hrs ago that I wish our pastor would say: "Regular schedule this coming Sunday! If you are uncomfortable, stay home & watch on internet."
I'm 83, & I would go back in a skinny minute, but if my wife declined (76 & Ret. Nurse) I would respect her concerns and stay home as well.
I have yet to be convinced that this is anywhere as serious as the "PLAGUE". May be wrong, but I smell way too much politics in this whole affair.
Anyway, if it gets me, I know where I'm going so the fear factor is minimal!!:Biggrin:Biggrin
