church problem

    We have had 2 deacons and there families that have left but neither came to the pastor to talk about what is wrong. It is rumored that a 3rd deacon and his family is about to leave and none of these folks will come and talk to the pastor. Why don't people talk to the pastor before making this kind of a decision?

    Either because the relationship between the pastor and those folks is irreparably broken, or because the reasons they have for leaving will not pass the muster of the Bible.

    Perhaps it is the Pastor that is seen as the cause of the problem. Can't really have an opinion without knowing the facts in the case.

    yes as debbie said, dare I say it, the pastor may actually BE the problem!!! Or the deacons could just be playing follow the leader with a protestor. I think if you really want to know you need to go to the deacons and just beg to know what is wrong and do what you can to help make things right.

    Hey, when I was a pastor, I WAS the problem.

    I insisted on preaching the Bible.

    I condemned sin. (Especially tbe hidden sin of the richest guy in church)

    That was a problem for some folks.

    How long has your pastor been there. The major is right.What was the teaching and preaching like before your pastor got there?
    Also there could be all kinds of things going on. How political were your deacons?How active were your deacons?
    Go tald to the pastor.Go talk to the deacons.This is to wide open.There are way to many possibilities.

    If the disagreement can't be solved, how would they talk to their pastor? If a pastor, for example, is a Calvinist, I would disagree with him concerning the Calvinism movement because I am not a Calvinist. How would I talk to him if he still stands on this Calvinism movement?

    BroBobby,

    There really is not enough to give much advice. I would suggest that the more quickly something can be done the better. Otherwise, the issue will fester.

    Maybe some men could go to one of the remaining deacons ... prayerfully ... and expecting that you may receive an answer differently than you expect.
