William will be in Park City next week for the Sundance and Slamdance film festivals. He is leaving Friday and he is looking for a good church to attend on Sunday. The festival is in Park City but he may be staying Salt Lake so any suggestions from either area would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!!

Hear great things about this one. Pastor writes a news artical for salt lake tribune. We take turns worshiping with them there or in our church on MLK day.

If you want down town. I hear this one is good. I may be wrong but I think they are the oldest baptist in SLC at 1892

I know of some IFB and KJVO if you are into that kind of thing. :tongue3:

Let me know. I dont know much about Park City churches except that I attended a wedding at a beautifule Methodust church that had the whole back of the church windows that looked out at the mountains.

Thank you DeeJay, I'll have him check these out! I am not sure exactly where he will be other than relatively near Park City. The lodging situation at this time of year in Park City is horrendous so it is looking like he is going to have to end up staying in SLC and driving to PC everyday. He had originally had a time share condo in PC, but it fell through all of a sudden so he is having to come up with other options.

As for the church we attend an SBA church, but he is not particuarily picky when it comes to visiting churches when he is out of town. He justs wants to be able to worship while he is there. He is basically walking into a hostile environment. Out of the 200 films in PC this year approximately 40 or so are gay-friendly and one is even a mockery of Christianity and homosexuality, (For The Bible Tells Me So). There is not one Christian friendly film. There are going to be two different forums though, concerning Christianity and film. One is the Religious Agenda: Gays, Faith, and Film and the other is a Wyndryder forum and it is sponsored in part by Fuller Seminary. He will be at both of these. anyway, thanks for the imformation!

    One more thing... Where's Sandy?

Sandy is a suburb of SLC it is on the east side of the valley 15 miles south (20 min) of downtown salt lake city. Sandy is where both Big and Little Cottonwood canyons are (Alta, Brighton, Solitude and Snowbird) ski resorts, if he is going skiing. Of course there is skiing in Park City at the Canyons resort.

I had trouble finding this. I dont know why everything but arguments has to be moved out of the discussion section. AND if you are going to move it why put it here in the pastors section. Whey not travel/hobby section

Thanks DeeJay! That map is really useful. I passed everything on to William and he really appreciates it. He is really glad someone replied to this because in all of his preparations he forgot to look for a good church. He asked some people that he knows, but they are not Christian or at least don't go to church. There was one person who invited him to a Mormon church, but that is not something he was looking for.

I had trouble finding this too. I wish there was an easy way to let people know when this happens. Oh well.

I believe I am the ONLY person from Utah on this board. How many can say that

Tell him to dress warm, it is as cold here as I can ever remember it being.

Where he wants to go to church probably depends on what part of Salt Lake he is staying in.
There is also an American Baptist church downtown that moved into a huge building few years ago that (I think) useto be an old greek orthodox building. I dont know anything about it except I want to visit just to see the inside of the building. It would be close to where I bet he is going to stay

The Calvery church on the other list is also right down town on 10th South and State st.

The Mormon churchs are the ones that are on every corner sometimes 2 on a block. There not hard to find but your right he does not want to go there.

Let me know if you need anything else.

I can say it too... "you are the only person from Utah on this board."

See that wasn't too hard to say!!:tonofbricks:
