Churches rent steeples for cell-phone towers

"Anything that would prohibit us from showing people the love of God isn't worth it to us," he says. "But," he adds, "I still have no service between my house and the church. It's horrible."

 

Well, not to sound selfish but I guess I am but if I couldn't use my phone between church and home I would have taken the offer. They can thank me later when they notice they can now use their phones at home.

 

Good management of resources...Good on them.

Who is good? The guys who rent our their stepels or the guys that won't?

 

It just makes good sense or in this case dollars. We are in the final stages of getting one zoned on our property. We have poor cellular reception in our area so it will help reduce dropped calls and give us more dollars to do the work of ministry. While I believe the work of the church should primarily be supported by the tithes and offerings of the saints, I see no wrong in tapping into this opportunity so long as the church puts it into real ministry. It really is no different from the many other ways churches raise funds for ministry purposes such as bookstores, coffee shops, etc.

 

I brought this up in a group of preachers today, one said, "I wouldn't have that heathen talk going through my steple". I never thought about what the callers might be saying???

 

Guess what....

Every TV and radio broadcast within a church property's reception area goes through that building, whether it's got a steeple or not, and whether or not Bro. Anti-Heathen-Talk likes it or not!!

Granted, in a metal building it may not penetrate as much as it would in a wooden one, but it's still gonna be there!!!

Now, it might be somewhat more concentrated if that church has a cell tower within its steeple, but, nonetheless, it's probably already been going through Bro. Anti-Heathen-Talk's church plant anyway.

Yep, if Bro. Anti-Heathen-Talk's church property is within the reception range, "Sex and the City," "Desparate Housewives," ball games on Sunday, etc. have been swimming around his pulpit, the pews, and even in the nursery!!!!

My church, which is situated downtown, leases the parking lot to a local parking company on weekdays. I don't see a cellphone tower as significantly different in principle.

 

The church that I now pastor has its tower rented out to sprint. It has no effect on us except for providing about $1000. a month for building fund. Seems to me it is good stewardship of space that would otherwise just be there doing nothing.
