Muslims are waging civil war against us, claims police union

    By David Rennie, Europe Correspondent
    (Filed: 05/10/2006)

    EXCERPT

Radical Muslims in France's housing estates are waging an undeclared "intifada" against the police, with violent clashes injuring an average of 14 officers each day.

As the interior ministry said that nearly 2,500 officers had been wounded this year, a police union declared that its members were "in a state of civil war" with Muslims in the most depressed "banlieue" estates which are heavily populated by unemployed youths of north African origin.

It said the situation was so grave that it had asked the government to provide police with armoured cars to protect officers in the estates, which are becoming no-go zones.

You know the old saying..."Raise you're hand if you're American. Raise both hands if you're French."

Absolute 100% proof that appeasing terrorists only creates more terror. Notice the lack of this garbage happening in countries that are willing to fight back.

Also, note that France didn't fight in Iraq.

Also, notice that France was lining it's pockets in the oil for food fiasco.

France was wrong, n'est pas ?

It wont happen in America. The libs will send them counselors as they attack the police. The conservs will send them packin. Freeland just found out what a mistake it is to kill police officers 68 times.

But the REASON France is not fighting in Iraq, the REASON France does not side with us on matters in the UN is precisely what will eventually happen here in the old USA - once the muslims become sufficient in numbers, the leaders become afraid of what they might do and base their foreign and domestic policies on fear of them. There is a significant muslim population in France and the situation there certainly proves my point as does the domino effect in Africa and Asia - this is what happens when people are asleep, the camel nose under the tent and eventually the whole camel is inside the tent.

Yeah, I think Algeria is their main problem. Note they did fight in Afghanistan alongside of us.

You betcha! That money shoulda gone to US companies (now it will, yippee).

Grumpy, I mean, Daisy, the caterwalling seems to be implying we wouldn't have all these terrorist problems if we stayed outta Iraq, France did stay, like they have several times and yet, they have problems anyways. Perhaps Muslims just like to pick on the cops in France, 'cuz they talk funny.

Or maybe it's that France is a bunch of wimps. I don't know, but they seem to have a bunch of people convinced they will not defend themselves.

I also strongly disagree with L.E., and say she way underestimates the resolve of the American public. But then again, she said she no longer wants God's blessings, so it's hard for me to know what to say to her. 'cept to say she's wrong.

This is a very good article in the current September/October issue of Foreign Affairs entitled, "France and Its Muslims". Anyone interested in this subject would do well to find a copy and read this article. Only this snippet is available online:

Do you suppose that there were actual terrorists in Afghanistan might have had something to do with it?

Did you see where Bill Frist, the GOP Senate Majority Leader, has waved the white flag to the terrorists? He says we should allow the Taliban to take part in the government in Afghanistan.

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said Monday that the Afghan guerrilla war can never be won militarily and called for efforts to bring the Taliban and their supporters into the Afghan government.
    http://pandagon.net/2006/10/03/bill-frist-calls-for-the-taliban-to-be-included-in-afghan-government/

These are the guys who harbored Bin Laden, and gave him a base from which to pull off 9/11. This is what the Republicans consider "tough on terrorism."

Hey, why are you calling me names? Are you so cheerful?

    Um, what caterwalling is that?

We don't actually have a lot of terrorist problems compared to most nations in the last hundred years.
Iraq is not the be-all and end-all. France has had a long, long history of colonialism in the Middle East and they have been dealing with the Algerian problem for decades. I don't think Morocco is too keen on France either.

And, again, they did fight in Afghanistan - Operation Hercules, anyone?

Or perhaps they have specific issues as minorities tend to have.

Yeah, it's interesting the Rovian smearjob done on a whole country has been so effective - a country which had been our ally the year before, after we, not they, had been attacked. Sad thing is some people seem to actually believe that idiotic stuff.

I'm in a great mood, lately, and the Yankees losing today does bring an extra spring in my step. And you do have a couple gnarly posts lately, not saying that you don't get them hurled at you, or denying that I've hurled a few at some....

You know, fighting in Iraq makes us unsafe, the big issue last week.

    About Algeria & French colonialism....

I don't buy it. The problems in France are from Muslim immigrants who refuse to assimilate. (Yeah, I know, not all of them.) I don't blame their "minority" status, I blame their refusal to participate in society.

And we made jokes about France's ability to wage war long before we had Karl Rove. We're just pointing out their police follow the same procedures their Armies do.

Does this mean that appeasement does not work?

Thank you for the link, KenH. Just what I was thinking. That these problems were mostly economic, not necessarily "intifada".

However, jihadists and communists have something in common.

Their recuriters and agents provocateur thrive in depressed communities, and it won't be long before this can and will go up (or down) to the level of jihad.

Do I believe that economic issues cause social unrest? Yes.

But, I do believe that much of the social unrest involved in this is religiously incited and encouraged. Young men seldom (without the aid of drugs) go out and destroy things to go to jail (maybe even get killed) just because they do not have the 'economic opportunity'.

We (USA) had a decade of a major civil rights movement that had less protester violence than France has seen. I dare anyone to show that our African-American brothers and sisters had it easier than muslims have had it in France.

I had two French in my class I taught, one was Algerian-French and the other was Anglo-French (are they angle?) and they did not have any economic disparities there.
