Try Antonin Dvorak - especially his New World Symphony (No. 9). It's my all time favorite!

Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Copland, Benjamin Britten, Samuel Barber, Vaughn Williams. All the others mentioned are great choices.

Friday evening the chorale I sing sang a Bach motet based on Psalm 117 for a 6-hour Bach concert. There were choirs, organists, instrumental soloists, vocal soloists, instrumental ensembles, and a whistler! I did not get to hear him.

to name just a few. Why not go to an on-line radio station that broadcasts classical music, and get a "taster" for the various composers? Examples are:
    BBC Radio 3, at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio3/
    Classic FM, at: http://www.classicfm.co.uk/Default.asp
Beethoven Radio, at: http://www.beethoven.com/ (This station does not play only music by Beethoven).

Or go to http://classicalwebcast.com/ where you will find a large number of radio stations around the world that broadcast classical music online.

I'm just curious. Are you looking for something specific, or are you trying to expand your musical horizons?
