Cheny was CEO of Halliburton for much of the time Clinton was President. Halliburton did much work for the governmrnt during this time period. Don't you find it odd that Halliburton managed to get those contracts for that work. There must have been somekind of sweetheart deal between Clinton and Cheney. How many times did we just turn our heads and pretend that we didn't see. The answer my friend is blowing in the wind, the answer is blowing in the wind.

Cheney was Secretary of Defense from '89 to '93. Before that, while in Congress, he was House Minority Whip; before that, Chairman of the House Republican Conference and before that, Chairman of the Republican Policy Committee. He had friends and influence in Congress, Republican majority since '95, and the Senate, Republican majority '94 - '01, '03 - now.

The federal government is far more than just the president.

It is interesting to look at just a portion of LE's link and see the bias shown in the headline:

    "Halliburton’s Iran connection
    by Jason Leopold
    December 2, 2003

Halliburton Corp., the oil field services company once headed by Vice President Dick Cheney, told the New York City Comptroller’s office Monday that it won’t scale back its business dealings in Iran, despite concerns from the City’s Comptroller William Thompson about “corporate ties to states sponsoring terrorist activity,” which could force the New York City Police and Fire Departments to pull its $23 million investment in the company.

The Comptroller’s office, on behalf of the New York City Police and Fire Department pension funds, in a resolution last March urged the boards of directors of Halliburton and General Electric and ConocoPhillips to set up committees to review its operations in terror-linked countries, specifically Iran. Halliburton helps build drilling rigs in Iran’s southern oil field."

Notice that only Halliburton was singled out in the Headline. General Electric and ConocoPhillips were not. But what does one expect from Bush Bashers. Note: Bashers is a Baptist Board approved polite word for Haters.

The facts are that Halliburton is one of the few corporations with the capability to do certain work, particularly in foreign countries.

Well, at least it was during the Clinton Administration.

But not any more. Bush is even responsible for there being a hurricane in the first place.

Surely he's solely responsible for the award of a contract to Halliburton. [IMG]

 Now you're just being silly.

Halliburton has many powerful friends, Cheney more than Bush.

Katrina Should be A Lesson To US on Global Warming

Seems like everything is President Bush's fault. One day after Katrina hammered the Gulf Coast, German commentators are laying into the US for its stubborn attitude to global warming and Kyoto.

Hurricane Katrina is big news for German commentators, whatever their ilk. For some, the powerful storm which slammed the Gulf Coast on Monday, is a symbol of the sort of environmental terrors awaiting the world thanks to global warming and proof positive that America needs to quickly reverse its policy of playing down climate change.

You mean like serving meals to soldiers? I guess that's why all of their contracts don't seem to be opened up for competitive bidding.
