This morning on Glenn Beck, the host played a clip from a Bible Teacher, (I think I recognized the voice, but I am not sure, so I will not say)

But this teacher said there is a verse that says "I will ascend into heaven" He went on to say that the Hebrew word (#1299) in Strong's concordance is translated as "Braq" is in President Brack Obama.

So is it coincidence or theology ?

I heard part of it and the guy went on to mention another word relating to the devil that is "bama" - since both words relate to the Devil, what is the conclusio :tongue3:

The only similarity I see is that both words are pronounced basically the same.
Sounds goofy to me.

בּרק
bâraq
baw-rak'
A primitive root; to lighten (lightning): - cast forth.

We're all named after something. Barak from from the Hebrew "Baraq", meaning, among other things, "lightning". Most people have names that have a biblical or historical origin. A cursory look at all POTUS names show that every one of them has a first name with a biblical root.

I consider this a coincidence. To try to attach a meaning to this is ludicrous.

Btw, Glenn Beck is a Mormon.

For anyone who heard the broadcast, did you recognize the voice of the Bible Teacher?

"Btw, Glenn Beck is a Mormon."

I thought you said moron :), are you sure about the Mormon part?

Just did some looking and looks like you are right. I would have guessed him to be Catholic from his comments over time, just his catholic upbringing sneaking through I would guess :)

What a silly point to attempt to make. I guess if you can't engage intellectually you can always try to win with insult and innuendo. Mr Beck is a big fan of the later two forms.

I've always thought that it was a direct link with the OT book of Judges. Just more silliness from Fox News. :)

Absolutely positive, 300 percent!

You can hear his "testimony" on YouTube:

He was interviewed by Robertson on the 700 Club as though he's a Christian. This does not surprise me. Some Christians seem to confuse moralism and references to "God" as Christianity.

The spelling is different, but Barak is a bible name and according to Strong's Concordance means:

Barak = "lightning" or "lightning flash"

1) son of Abinoam of Kedesh who, incited by Deborah, a prophetess of Ephraim, delivered the Israelites from the yoke of Jabin by routing the Canaanites in the plain of Jezreel

Coincidence? Maybe, but I think it more likely his parents knew the meaning.

I went to High School with a fellow named Six. That was his real name. Classmates always brought up 666 to him. He was nice and very popular.
