Does anybody have any good C.C.S.S. names?

We need a name, but the only one somebody said jokingly was "The Misfits!"

Does fit us, but really don't want it for our S.S. name. Anybody got any ideas?

We don't have name. Actually I have been the teacher for this class since September and havn't had any students. I now have one 18 yr. old who says he will be there for Sunday School next week. So pray for me as I teach my first class.

Whatever the name of this class, it needs to be properly scoped/focused. Those attending college are face significantly different pressures and experiences than those who are not attending or have finished school.

I've been involved in several of these classes (3 as a teacher) and the wide spread of needs from 18yrs to 30yrs is damaging to the cohesion needed in such a group. Most of the churches that lump all of these folks (college, college age but not attending, older singles, etc...) do so because of having no other place to put them.

Folks in each of these age groups get that and this is reason that few of these multi-age group classes succeed.

That said, I greatly admire anyone who seeks to lead such a group.

I totaly agree - a college group should be separate from post college or those working. College people and those working and those somewhat older are all in different places in their lives and dealing with different things. Too bad they are all lumped together.

Joshua, I like the EDGE name and what it stands for! :wavey:

    Jonathan,
Our College & Career class basically consists of 3, yes a whopping 3 very young adults. One just graduated college, & is about 24; the other is in her 3rd year of college, 21 years of age, & I'm 19 & still in stinkin college. So, we are all about the same age, & we were all in the youth group together. It's just hard to get into S.S. sometimes b/c of the lack of #'s. I almost switch churches to go to a church w/ more people my own age.

This is a very hard age, I find. We've been involved in college ministry for 10 years and we've had groups as small as 1 and as big as 50 - and, of course, the big group met in my home. LOL!! I think it's a somewhat cyclical kind of thing - right now we're at about 15-20 and it's going pretty well. We've found that, although college and shortly out of college are in different stages, they both benefit from ministering to each other - and it's worked out really well for us.

    A couple of questions please.

What is your church’s mission statement?

What is your vision for accomplishing that statement?

Your class name should encompass your strategy for attaining your vision.

    For instance

A mission statement might read “Christ Centered Family Focused”

Your vision would be that every church program be centered on Christ and that every program be interlinked with your church family.

Your college and career class might have the strategy of training future moms and dads for service within the church body and the family.

You want to give your class a name that identifies you with your stated strategy of where you are and where you want to be. It may be a single word or a couple of words, or perhaps an anagram.

    Strength and Beauty
    Knights and Ladies
    Promise and Covenant

One thing about it a great activity would be to brain storm over Pizza and coke.

I hear you and have been in almost your exact situation. The difference between 19 and 24 is not incredibly severe. While I almost never suggest church switching, I am quite realistic when some of my former SS students ask for my opinion on their next SS move. For example, I've found few churches that place a real focus on either young or older singles (2 completely different groups). My standing advice is that while I would obviously prefer that no one leave my church, if another church is a better fit, by all means check it out.

I did check out the church, but I felt like God wants me right where he has me! I felt like God was trying to tell me "You have a passion for me & I want you to build & stay right where you are." I really was confused for a long time bout the whole ordeal, but God showed me right where I needed to be.
