Coming Short is the Problem

Rom. 3:21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

1. Who comes short - "for there is no difference; for ALL....come short"

2. Come short of what? - "the righteousness of God.....the righteousness of God.....the glory of God"

The "glory of God" is His "HOLINESS" and His holiness is his own personal RIGHTEOUSNESS

The explanation of "all have sinned" is SINS OF OMISSION "come short" of the righteouseness of God.

You are under the condemnation of the Law for SINS OF OMISSION - COMING SHORT



3. The law provides a revelation of God's own rightousness:

But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

The "righeousness of God" now manifested "without the law" which the now manifestation in the Person and life of Christ was "witnessed by the law and the prophets" but is now obtainable by faith in His life not by your life unto all and upon all who trust in Christ for the righteousness of God.

QUESTION: How is YOUR OWN LIFE not coming short of "the righteousness of God" RIGHT NOW?

QUESTION: Where would you obtain a life that does not come short of the glory of God?

Again, you that deny justification by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone, this is the bottom line issue.

You are condemned for SINS OF OMISSION because your life COMES SHORT of God's standard of righteousness which is His own holiness. Here is the basis of YOUR CONDEMNATION before God.

That being the case, who among you has a life that you can offer to God which does not continue to COME SHORT of that standard and thus continue to fall under the SAME CONDEMNATION??

Is there any time in your life where you still do not continue to COME SHORT of God's righteousness? If the apostle John while under the control of the Holy Spirit when writing 1 John 1:8-10 confessed he was not without sin then why do you think any aspect of your own life is ever without sin? How can a life that is NEVER without sins of omission be offered to God and overcome condemnation for COMING SHORT of God's own righteousness?? Remember, to sin in only one point is to fail in every other point of the Law. To come short of any one point is to come short of every point of the law. Hence, the only solution is to keep every point in order to satisfy the Law's demands for righteousness and avoid its condemnation and that is precisely what the righteousness of God is or else God Himself comes short of his own standard and would be equally condemned as us. God's righteousness is sinless perfection or a life that never comes short of His own "glory" - the righteousness of God. Any life that is less than sinless perfection has "come short" of the glory of God and this is the righteousness demanded by a proper interpretation of the Law of God which the elders misinterpreted (Mt. 5:21-47)..


Where will you obtain a life to offer to God that will not fail to COME SHORT "of the righteousness of God" = sinlessly perfect? God's righteousnesss is revealed in and by the law and that same righteousness is manifested in the life of Christ which both the law and the prophets gave witness of? Did not Christ challenge anyone to find sin in him = sinless perfection.

How does your soteriology resolve this problem? How does your soteriology find a solution for satisfying and overcoming God's righteous CONDEMNATION for a life containing SINS OF OMISSION?

Outside of the personal life of Christ where can find and how will you obtain such a life that God won't condemn for SINS OF OMISSION?????

Forgiveness does not altar your own personal past life from coming short of God's righteousness but is a clear admission it did come short of the glory of God.

Forgiveness does not altar your own personal life from coming short, past, present or future any more than forgiveness altars your sin nature which continually comes short of the glory of God. On judgement day the only personal life you have is what you lived on earth and it still came short of the glory of God. If coming short of the glory of God is what brought condemnation upon your personal life here and now, your life on judgment day still comes short of that same righteous standard.
