Common errors in the English lanuage

Hmm, proper grammer? English lanuage?

 

Could be a proper Grammer! I had a very prim and proper Grammer. She not only expected us to use proper grammar, but demanded it.

I'll stick with The King's English by H.W. and F.G. Fowler as my authority on English grammar. (1906)

You must be multi-lingual, Brother Jim. The Queen's English, Canadian English, eh and American English. It must be easy to get lost in the colloquial soup! :thumbsup:

 

I have always been amused by the English language as used in both Canada and the USA. Whilst, I try to be grammatically correct, I am more interested in what someone has to say rather than how they say it.

In seminary, we lost a mark for each grammatical error and a mark for each spelling error. A passmark was 70. One soon learns to speak clearly.

Syracuse had a chap from Western New York giving the weather report. They had to replace him with someone who could speak "English". Even New Yorkers had trouble understanding him!

This language we speak can be amusing by times.
