Enjoying "down" time. Just fried up some ham slices in terryaki sauce. Wow! What a good taste.

What would you eat with that?

Fried cabbage with garlic sounds like it would go just fine with what you cooked Dr. Bob. Might want to stock up on some 'Tums' though. :D

Cooking is a hobby of mine. And ham a specialty. Love garlic and pineapple after marinading it overnight (with terryaki). Made some noodles (Lipton has packets that are no-brainers).

BTW, just had a bouquet of flowers delivered to the wife's hotel room. When she gets back from Torrance (touring an herbal processing plant at which she buys a lot of stuff imported from China) she will be surprised.

Figured it was a good thing to do for the two women in my life that I love the most!

    Hello all,
Sorry I missed yesterday and the scones Sue baked. Last night I was looking after two grandchildren whilst Lauren, the oldest went to receive a prize for a poster which she designed, her parents went with her. Tonight Lauren ,David and I went to see a scarecrow exibition at a nearby village, we walked around for about 2 hours, and saw most of them [IMG] . It was such fun, tomorrow I have my weekly ( give Sally a hand ) night when I go to my daughters till about 9.30, and help with this and that, she has a small baby 7 months, a little boy of 5 who suffers with Autism, and Lauren, who is 7..... quite a lot of things to help with......... but I love every minute. I would love a nice cup of tea please, and, if I may perhaps have a scone..... are there any left ???
    Kind regards to all.

Gwyneth: Here ya go. Be sure and put some of that homemade jam on the scones!

What a nice gesture (helping hand day)! [IMG]

Dr. Bob: I never would have guessed you were a romantic! [IMG]

Gina: Are you all 'tea'd' out now? When we hit Page 20, we always relocate to a larger facility...sorry I didn't notify you, been real busy today! :(

Sheila: How was that nap in front of the fan? I turned the A/C off this morning. First time in a couple of weeks. I wanted to air out the house. I think it will go back on before bedtime though...hard to sleep in humidity.

Sorry, I have not been here much today. My son tried to call me and I was online. I stayed off line the rest of the day hoping he would call back, but so far he hasn't. I will go off line again and come back on to say good night (or earlier if he calls soon). [IMG]

    Good evening everybody!!!

Sue: Thanks for starting a new thread for this! Twenty pages is really hard to follow...for me, anyway, since I am not on during the day! And thanks so much for the yogurt!!

Diane: As promised...dental information...probably more than you want to know, but here goes!

I have had LOTS of dental work done...fillings, caps, bridges, etc. My dentist is the ONLY one who tells me I have a small mouth! [IMG] My teeth have always been crowded and apparently my mouth is small!

About 15 years ago, I had full-mouth gum surgery for periodontal disease. (Supposedly a genetic condition.) Since then, I have gone for cleanings every 4 months. but about 2 years ago, my dentist told me I needed to see a periodontist because he saw evidence of periodontal disease again. Well, I put it off until a couple of my back teeth became loose and I had to have them pulled. (I learned that no matter how long you wait, loose teeth will NOT re-seat themselves!!)

This year, I have had 6 teeth pulled (top and bottom back teeth), gum surgery (again), and bone grafts to get ready for implants, which I have elected to do instead of a partial denture. The most recent (and invasive) surgery was about 4 weeks ago.

A week before this last surgery, I woke up one morning and felt VERY apprehensive about the surgery. I decided I couldn't go a whole week dreading this, so I emailed the ladies in my Sunday School class and asked them to pray for me.

My favorite scripture is Phil. 4:6-7: "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, let your requests be made known unto God. And the PEACE OF GOD WHICH SURPASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING WILL GUARD YOUR HEARTS AND MINDS THROUGH CHRIST JESUS." I began to quote that scripture all that week and claim it's promise of the peace of God. Well, it worked! I immediately began to feel a peace come over me. The morning of the surgery, I was totally relaxed and confident of God's promise of peace. (And by that time, I was just ready to get it over with!!)

The surgery went great. The healing process has been long, but I am recovering very well. (Will wait about 6 months, and then have the implants done.)

So, first of all, attitude is a tremendous advantage! If you go into it with dread and apprehension, it really WILL be hard. But if you go into it knowing God will give you peace based on His Word, He will! I KNOW from experience!!

Memorize this scripture...if you haven't already! Let me know when you are doing what and I promise to pray for you! Prayer combined with God's promises make an unbeatable combination!!

Oh CJ! And I'm whining over a bad cavity! God bless you! And I do know that verse and will quote it when the fear arises!

I had an abscessed tooth this past winter and had to take antibiotics. I ended up at the hospital very sick from antibiotic associated diarrhea. I've never been sick before.......

Thank you for your prayers! And again, Welcome Home!

Am now drinking the ginseng cola and haven't decided if I like it or not. It kinda tastes like pepsi, without the pep. One of the ingredients listed is "natural cola nut flavor". What in the world is a cola nut???

Diane, I do hope you know I was NOT minimizing your cavity, and I really don't think you think that! This was meant as a testimony to what God can do, and I have had occasion to share it several times in the last few weeks.

I have had to take antibiotics throughout this whole ordeal, and fortunately, I have never had a bad reaction to them.

    God is so faithful!

Your friend, CJ, your personal Tooth Fairy!

Oh CJ, I'm thick skinned! No way! I was hurting and cringing for YOU! My mother has implants and loves them! She's had them since they were just a medical experiment.

    Neat! My own Toothfairy.

Good evening Diane, CJ, and Gina!

I just got back online. We had another tornado warning and I unplugged my computer. We are still under a severe thunderstorm and flash flood warning.

CJ: You are a much braver person than I am when it comes to dentists! Gina went on a tea binge because the Coffee House moved and she couldn't find it to come in for her regular tea. [IMG]

    Gina: This one's for you...

    Cola Nut
The kola nut (cola nut) is the edible seed of several species of tropical trees of the Cola genus native to Africa (especially Cola acuminata and Cola nitada). They are cultivated today in both Africa and the American tropics, where they are chewed to retard fatigue and hunger. Kola nuts have a bitter initial taste, then sweet, and also sweeten any food or drink taken immediately afterward. Kola nuts contain caffeine and theobromine, and are famous for their use in 'Cola' soft drinks. Many soft drink manufacturers now use synthetic chemicals that resemble the flavor of kola nuts.

Diane: We both know the Lord takes care of us no matter the situation, but somehow the dentist is still a problem for a lot of us (me included).

I may pop back in later, but just in case I have to shut down the computer again...I will say good night now. Last one out please shut the lights off. Thanks!

    Sweet dreams everyone!

Sorry, I hadn't been in a talktive mood for a few days. Told you I'm usually the one who stands back and listens in a group.

    Love fried cabbage with garlic.
Dr. Bob ever done a country ham? I mean a whole one. Lot of work, but worth it.
