I will try to be here to serve you; but if not, feel free to help yourself.

We serve donuts, cinnamon toast (dry toast available upon request), crumpets, bagels, scones, croissants, brioche rolls, yogurt, salads, light lunches, popsicles, ice cream, homemade cookies and homemade pies, and homemade jams.

We also serve coffee (with/without caffeine), hot chocolate, hot tea, iced tea, fresh squeezed lemonade and orange juice, cappuccino, Mountain Dew, DP, DDP, Coke, Pepsi, Diet Sierra Mist, milk, milk shakes, Kool-Aid, and Carb Options.

If you don't see your drink or food of choice...just ask, we will do our best to stock it for you!

Well, I'm glad to be one of the first if not THE first to post in this glorious new Coffee House!

I just checked the weather, and though it was only supposed to get to 87, it is now 95 here with a heat index of 99. I'm not sure I like our weather man right now! ;)Humidity is at 45%. It is nice and toasty!

The appointment grows nearer and I'm starting to get a little "twitchy". I hate doctors, even this one. He's a Christian, but I still don't like to go to the doctors office. I would change doctors, but, he's been my doc since 1997, over 8 years. I've been so nervous I've been eating, and that's not good. I've had some bbq Frito's, a hamburger, a fork or two full of bread and butter pickles, two pieces of banana bread (which is ok, I need the potassium), one Sprite, and now a piece of bologna wrapped up in a piece of boiled ham lunch meat. I eat when I get nervous or agitated...at least sometimes I do. Also when I'm in pain, which I am...so, now I'm SOOOOOOOOO confused!

Viv's been "after me" to go to the doctor for the last month. I know I will come home today with a shot of anti-biotics and steroids to boost my immunity. I need a flu shot and another pneumonia shot. Anyone else have to get those things every year?

I'm hoping that I can get my pain meds refilled without having to go back to the pain clinic for the spinal blocks again.

But, I know the Lord puts these things upon us for reasons. I've gotten to witness to several people at the doctors office and they have started to ask questions. That's good....he even lets his staff stay and talk a few minutes if they are asking. If he's not able to reach them for the Lord, he lets others speak to them. I keep thinking maybe that's why I have had to go back so often and that I nearly died last year, so people could see that there truly is a God and that He is the healer and the one who keeps His people pretty much above the circumstances even when they are facing them. [IMG]

Sorry to ramble...just a lot on my heart today.

I've never gotten them before, Tony, but I'm getting a pneumonia shot this year after being down with pneumonia and bronchitis for about six weeks last year!

I haven't decided about the flu yet because it only covers one variety and we have several...

Praying all goes well at the doctors this afternoon/evening for BOTH you and Dale!

I must be nervous and agitated all the time! Let see if there's anything laying around the Ye Olde Coffee House.

I've lost about 40 pounds over the last month and a half. The church bought an old house next door to the church and I've been working from can see to can't see getting it ready to move into.

It's plain pathetic. I can see my feet when I'm standing. Maybe MK will bake me a pie?

How 'bout peach dumplins instead. It's a cooking now and is similar to peach pie or cobbler, but jucier. Mmmmmm so good you have to eat it with a spoon.

Been busy at little things today. Got some of the sewing done. Didn't get the critter cages cleaned. Changed the dentist appointment till a couple of weeks for now. Dealt with two schools and got one settled for the time being. The other one cooperates pretty well already. Went to a meeting about the eighth grade trip.( :( )

All just little fussy stuff that takes up time. I'm tired now and think I'm headed to bed, just as soon as I get some of those dumplins.

Have to head off early in the morning to take my sis down to a little town in the country where they have a branch of a certain bank that our little town in the country doesn't have. All we have here in this town are car lots and fast food places. ;) [IMG]

Ya'll have a good day anyway and I'll check in when I get back.

Hope Tony and Dale's doctors appointments went well.

    Morning all:

Thanks for those who were praying for my appt. I was praying for Dale's as well, and hope it went well.
Mine was, as my Hispanic friends would say, "mas y media"...or "so-so". No possibility of therapy for me. The degeneration in my back has gone too far for that. So, it's back to pain medications and prayer. The neuropathy in my legs (topical, but some deep inside) is from diabetes and is getting worse. They are worried about that. Also worried about kidney damage again. I have blood tests for the diabetes again in two weeks and he'll do the hemo counts then, he said. It wasn't great news there, but, it wasn't terrible. It could have been far worse, and I am far better healthwise than I was last year around this time when I was admitted to the hospital with most of the blood in my body gone. He sort of joked about that last night! [IMG] He imitated me

"Hey, Doc, I'm just a little tired and run down. I probably have the flu".....Then he just shook his head, tears welled up in his eyes, and he said, "I still can't believe you didn't realize just how close to death you were." Makes one think....

Well, this is the day the Lord has made, and I'm alive....so, we will rejoice in it! [IMG]

    Ya'll have a great day!

Be good, be kind, be careful.

    Oh, new Coffee House!
AVL1984...I had not known your whole story. Praise the Lord! He obviously wanted you to live so keep living for Him! Will be praying for the "not so good things" going on with your health!
The wood rot that led to new doors is now leading to a kitchen wall being torn into because the original owners who had the house custom built chose odd sized doors/openings. Sue, may I scream NOW??? I know, it won't do any good, so I won't....
Getting pkgs ready for the Post Office so I can get them there and back this morning before the repairmen get here. Was way too tired last night and went to bed early.
Hope ya'll have a great day! [IMG]

If it is any consolation, Tony. I have been there. Diabetes caused my 6 strokes, paralyses, neuropathy and the danger of kidney disease. For three years after my first stroke, I couldn't walk or talk and lost my position as a professor and minister. This went on for three years before I spoke clearly.

Here I am at 78, still walking and talking and praising the Lord. I am living with diabetes!

Keep looking up. We may have to live with diabetes and ailments, but we don't have to be slaves to them. Daily medications, a good balanced diet (I have 6 small meals a day, with two snacks, established by a dietician) and this helps to keep the blood sugars where they should be.

    Cheers, mate, God bless,

    Jim

    Good morning all:

It is VERY foggy here. The visibility is down to 1/4 mile and will stay that way until around 9:00AM. It is a cool 60º heading for a high of 86º.

I will be heading to the mechanics as soon as I'm finished on the corner. I don't know how long it will take them to fix the seat belt this time. The faulty switch they installed last week is under the front seat, so it shouldn't take them too long.

Dale learned to give himself injections of Lovenox yesterday. His colonoscopy is Friday and he will continue on the Lovenox injections twice a day until his blood count gets back to where it is supposed to be. He certainly is NOT looking forward to Friday!

Tony: Wish your visit had been better, but glad you're keeping a 'stiff upper lip'.

Jim: Your "just keep keepin' on" attitude is an inspiration.

Pamela: Been there, done that. Our house was built in 1892 and NOTHING is standard size on it!

    HAGD!

    Sue, praying for your husband.
My son has an essay to do today. He'd probably rather go to the dentist than write anything...ever. He knows no extra karate class this afternoon without it so he should get it done wthout too much complaining. [IMG]

    Thanks all.

Sue, I have the perfect verse for Dale: Acts 9:5..."It is hard for thee to kick against the pricks..." The Lord didn't have injections in mind, but I think He will forgive my application.

Feel for you folks working with odd-sized houses. This old house of mine settled 5 1/2" in one corner. A carpenter has trouble working on downstairs..everything is on an angle. The other end angled down so that I had trouble rising from the sofa. That is the room in the photo I posted, now raised and in place again...I mean level.

Years ago, the doors were built according to the heighth of the owners. They didn't make "Walmart" doors in the early days.

Yes prayers are offered for those in need, and even those who have no needs.

    Cheers, and God bless,

    Jim

    Good morning everyone!

Tony, so so is always better than bad!

Sue, how'd you get Dale to give his own shots? I thought that was what wives were for??!!!!! ;) Poor fella, you'd think doctors could find less intrusive methods of giving medication.

I'm back from my trip and need to get started on everything I put off from yesterday. Not really motivated though, so for a few minutes I'm going to sit here and have a nice cup of coffee and then maybe some lunch. There's lasagna in the fridge calling my name.

Pamela, what kind of karate does your son take. My kids are in taekwondo plus and have an extra class tonight too. They'll get their new green belts tomorrow night.

Just so everyone knows, any desserts I bring to the coffee house are made with Splenda instead of at least half the sugar. Got diabetes in this house too.

Dale will get a 'kick' out of that, Jim. [IMG]

I am finally back from the garage and my seatbelt is finally working! Hurray! I get to wear it again! YUCK!

MK: Dale usually DOES take pills to keep his blood thin, but they want him on the injections before and after the colonoscopy. I could give myself injections - but not anyone else...

Brent has some tests today, so I need to get off of here and grade Paces.

    CYAL!

mk - My son takes Tai Karate and is a first level brown belt (brown has 3 or 4 levels - can't remember - and comes right before black) My daughter earned her first degree black belt in May of 04, right before graduating and leaving for college that fall. Believe me, you don't wanna mess with her!!!

    Hi

All these "Karate Kids"! ;) :D

Had the last radiation treatment today. Praise the Lord! The pain is gone except for a tiny twinge occasionally. The Dr said that is a very good thing.

Sue, will pray for y'all as Dale has the colonoscopy.

Tony, wish you had gotten better news.

    Good morning all:

Gayla, glad your pain has eased!

55º, foggy, and muggy again - high of 88º expected.

We dug out our old aquariums and cleaned them up yesterday. It took us six hours to clean them and the rocks and get everything put back together!

The light for the 30 gal. was broken and Wal-Mart doesn't have any, so it looks like we will be going out of town to try and find one. The 10 gal. one is up and running.

    Cruising,

    Good Morning all:

Gayla, I'm so glad that your pain has eased! Praise the Lord! [IMG] Ain't God Good?!

Sue, I was up early this morning, but didn't really have time to hit the Coffee House. Had to deal with some problems concerning the old church and their getting email from our account at the new church. Believe it or not, I was on the phone for over an hour trying to get things straightened around, and this was at 4am! But, that's a good thing about GoDaddy.com. I can say that they ARE available all the time. Hopefully all of it will be settled by days end.

It is 73 degrees here with 100% humidity. It was somewhat foggy when Viv left this morning, and the moon dropped an eerie feel about the place!

I was in bed most of the day yesterday with vertigo attacks. It looks like today might be more of the same. If they are starting this early in the season, I'm wondering if this is going to be a really bad winter for me. Five years ago I was nearly bedridden because of this disease. But, others have it worse...so I will continue to live for the Lord, Love him with all my heart, soul and mind, and listen to what HE has to tell me. [IMG]

Hope ya'll have a great day. Oh, and could you please, please, start praying that the Lord will send us an inexpensive pick-up truck? We've been finding all kinds of old furniture laying around that people want to get rid of that could be refinished and sold. We believe the Lord could be telling us that this is a good secondary income for us.

Thanks all. Have a great day.

Be good, be kind, be careful.
