Let's add to the discussion - Should military chapels serve communion

IF you attend a military chapel - would you partake of communion

Great question which answer must depend largely upon both the audience and the service.

For example, if the presentation is by those that are deniers of the faith such as the RCC, the Anglican, Episcopal, or a cult such as Mormon, LDS, then most certainly, participation would be questionable.

Should they drink of the same cup, or serve alcoholic beverage as the juice, participation would also be questionable.

I don't view serving communion as under the purview of military chapels. It is a church ordinance.

I don't attend a military chapel, but, no, I would not participate in the communion.

I've never taken communion in a military chapel.

In 21 years, I've only taken communion with a chaplain once. Me and my friends (we averaged about 18 guys at a time) were in a kinda remote area. Didn't have many visitors. But battalion brought a chaplain up.

If he mentioned his denomination, I can't recall it. From my experience, our state's chaplains run 50% Baptist, 25% Methodist, and 25% Presbyterian. But he asked about our well being, distributed some devotionals, and we had a quick communion service.

When I attended military chapel - I always partook of Communion - which is normally served the first Sunday of each month.

When I was in Mainz, Germany; I visited a nearby base - actually more of an outpost. They had only one chaplain. I had a nice chit-chat with the Chaplain. He was a closed communion chaplain. I asked him how he handled communion. He told me that since he was at an outpost and being the only chaplain- he would invite a special speaker once a month- which "by chance" was always on the first Sunday of the month. In addition, the Chaplain offered the special speaker to serve communion!
The Chaplain told me that no one ever caught on!
