I've found what works pretty well is to come up with a really good complicated 5-6 character password that uses upper case and lower case letters as well as numbers and symbols that you can remember like E3@#b then for every website you add on the name of the website to the password. So like Amazon can be E3@#bAmazon or E3@#bFacebook for Facebook or E3@#bBaptistBoard or whatever. This way each website has a "unique" password, but yet it's easier to memorize since each has a smilar base password. Obviously you can make it longer or shorter or modify if you want.

The problem is no matter how complicated your password is, you need to use different ones. If you use the same password for everything, and one site is hacked and they get that password now they have your password for everything.

This may be a good time to update some passwords.

How often is it necessary to change passwords?

Just use 1-2-3-4 for everything. Then you won't forget. :)

Here's my suggestion for passwords. If you have a favorite memorized Bible verse or two use the first letter of the first several words of the verse followed by the chapter/verse numbers.

    Thus, Romans 5:8

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

    would become this password:

    Bgchltu58

    Bullet-proof password!

I arrive at my workstation in a local medical office

Sign on PC (Name#1 – password)

    Program passwords
Sign on time card (Company password - password#2 - site password)
Open Electronic medical record system (Name #2– password)
Open data system (Name#2 – password)
    Open Citrix (Name#3 - password)

Open 2nd lab computer (User- User) [original passwords – never changes

Passwords change about every 8 weeks but its slightly varies with each program - no repeated 4 word strings for past 8 trys, must have capitals and numbers included.

After repeated failures remembering most of us have a password card posted on the wall beside our computer.
