Congratulations to the Indianapolis Colts

Wait, if they are such wonderful Christians, why are they competing with CHurch every sunday?
I for one get tired of athletes who talk like they are christians in front of the camera but never show it.

Wow.
Anyway, the colts are actually my favorite team since I am from Central Indiana.
However, some of the treachery that has surrounded the building of their new stadium has me disgusted with the entire league.

Anyway, I was glad to see an Indy team finally win but....Christian? I doubt it.

 

It was indeed wonderful to hear him say this (and I quote)

"I'm proud to be the first African-American coach to win this," Dungy said during the trophy ceremony. "But again, more than anything, Lovie Smith and I are not only African-American but also Christian coaches, showing you can do it the Lord's way. We're more proud of that."

I was able to watch quite a few games this year and not miss morning, evening, OR choir practice.

Glorify God in your employment. Coach Dungy did just that. :applause:

By the way, did you hear the announcers talking about how Dungy addresses his team - always in a conversational voice, he never yells. He also never cusses. the one time one of his people heard him cuss was when he said he was going on the best @@@@ sports show on fox. His friend said tony you just cussed, Dungy replied that yes he had and that was the last time he was going to say the title of that program

I dont know if Dungy is a Christian, but from my perspective 2000 miles away, he walks the walk better than most. If he says that he is a Christian I for one will believe him and leave it between him and God

 

I quite agree, Dale, It is hypocritical Christianity at best. They tell the world of unbelief that it is ok to desecrate the Lord's Day.

I well remember the Scottish athlete who refused to run his favoured race because it was on a Sunday. He ran a race he had never run before and won. It was not on Sunday. That is God honouring to be sure. He had a testimony worth hearing.

There was a Wesleyan Church in Ottawa that showed the game on their big screen in violation of copyright laws, held a party in the church, all on a Sunday. What does that tell the world? You can not only desecrate the Lord's Day, but you can also break the law. Just what does being a Christian mean?

Regarding, the faith of the Colts organization, I could not find evidence for the owner's faith, other than he's known for quoting secular rock and roll lyrics. I did find that they have a Catholic priest for the team chaplain (presumably chosen by the owner?) and Tony Dungy went to a Catholic high school. Thus, on the surface, it would seem that the Colts are a Catholic organization rather than a Christian one.

A Christian example for us all.
The movie they made about him was a little dramatized but the principle was true.

I thought it was quite interesting that he won his untrained race and not only that, but set a world record for the time.

Truly done in a Christian way.

 

Some people are just never satisifed. They will find a way to throw stones no matter what happens.

Christians today should be happy and rejoicing that such fine Christian men were in the spotlight for all the world to see, yet instead many decide to throw stones.

People never cease to amaze me.

Well, lets see:

I really don't care which day, there are 6 to choose from.
God demands one.

As for how people accept the change...what difference does that make?
Are we worried the NFL might lose money???

 

Not a criticism so much as a delineation that, since he went to a private Catholic school and since he sent his son to a Catholic school then I'm speculating that he's Catholic. This combined with the fact that the Colts have a Catholic chaplain, suggests that the organization is more Catholic than Christian. I'm a Baptist, and in my worldview, I do not serve the same god as the Roman Catholic Church does and I believe Catholics should be evangelized to, not praised as being model Christians.

"I'm fortunate to have been asked to be a part of this organization and what I'm doing to promote our Catholic faith," he [father Gallagher] said about his volunteer ministry [Colts Chaplain].​

 

I guess since God rested on the 7th day, and NFL games are played on the first day - the NFL is ok - now those college boys are in trouble playing those games on the sabbath!!
