LP made the following odd statement on another (now closed thread):

I asked him to clarify - with quotes if possible - where my delusions are. Since the thread is now closed, I wanted to give him an opportunity to follow up on my reply.

P.S. For the record, the text of those sermons can be found here .

Post-It, I was thinking the same thing. I'm sure he figured that his rhetoric would be accepted without question around here. When asked to defend such a reprehensible accusation, he backed down.

I just sent LP another e-mail in the hopes that he'll step forward and attempt to defend that statement.

    Joshua

P.S. Is it slander or libel if it's in print? Libel?

    Joshua,

Just read Follow? Me? Wonderful by the way. It reminded me of a thought I read somewhere, the author made the point that Jesus was "downwardly mobile" and if we are followers of the risen one then....

Think it was Henri Nouwen but not sure.

Keep posting them, I lurk by your site when I get a chance.

    Peace
    Russell

Traditionally, libel is for print media; slander is for spoken media. I think there's enough case law to tell yet whether a posting is libel or slander. In any event, it is defamation of character.

Thanks RSR. Obviously I'm not taking his comments seriously, but I didn't want to label his comments "libelous" if I they were in fact "slanderous."

With all due respect, when you treat the word of God the way you do, Joshua, you will have to accept critisism. You certainly dish it out. Any trouble you get into here, you ask for.

I won't even read any of your sermons. This doesn't mean I hate you, just your theology.

    Mr. Curtis,

    Several points:

1 - I think fundamentalism does far more injustice to Scripture than my hermeneutic which is, at the very least, consistent and widely used througout Christianity.

2 - LP claimed that, after reading my sermons he concluded that I'm Satanically deluded. That is an empirical statement that should be easy for him to prove. He refuses to.

3 - I'm not really concerned with whether or not you read my sermons. If you did, though, you might find that in the day-to-day practice of Christianity we're not that different.

Hehee, Not really. Just having some fun with ya.

Josh, Tell me, what do the following sciptures mean to you as an individual and how would you personally apply them to your life?

    1 Timothy 6
3If anyone teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, 4he is conceited and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions 5and constant friction between men of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.

    1 Corinthians 1:10
I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought.

Who is Satan anyway, and what does he do and what does it look like?

I'm sure there are hundreds of points we agree on. We may only disagree on 4 or 5. But IMO, they are huge points. Divisive points, you might say....

Um, LP, does that mean "You're right I have no real criticism of the content of your sermons I was just shooting off my mouth and you caught me at it." ?

Does that mean, "I am afraid to answer that question (Who is Satan anyway, and what does he do and what does it look like?) with a direct answer?"

Or should I phrase the question for you, "What is "Satan" anyway, and what is the concept explained by the term?"

    LP,

I'm going to say this very carefully. Here's the question that you keep ducking:

Can you prove, using quotes if possible, your assertion that my sermons prove I am satanically deluded?

Instead of answering that question, you responded with some metaphysical garbage about the nature of Satan.

    Joshua
