This is the second time a convicted killer has suffered while undergoing lethal injection! http://abcnews.go.com/US/arizona-execution-takes-hours-prompts-plea-stay/story?id=24687542

Whether you are for or against capitol punishment, this is something we need to discuss! Should we do as California, and build a psychiatric hospital to aide death row inmates http://www.latimes.com/local/politics/la-me-pol-ff-san-quentin-20140611-story.html to help these poor souls while they wait forever for their sentence to die to be finalized?

Is the kind of suffering this man underwent today, cruel and unusual punishment?

Should America just end the death penalty - nationwide - and commute all sentences to life without the hope for parole?

    No such thing -
    1) A Governor or POTUS can pardon a prisoner
    2) A prisoner can escape
    3) A prisoner can find a lawyer who can use the
    system
    4)

They wait forever to be finalized because they keep appealing. The wait is their own doing. What about the suffering they cause those of whom they murdered? What about the suffering of the people the victims were related too?

The term cruel and unusual punishment is like endangered species. Both terms get misused in order to further an agenda none of which are honest.

    This is one reason.....

.... a lot of Californians are angry with Brown and his cronies. Why do condemned murders need psychiatric help? Let alone their own hospital? If you add in the cost to build it, and staff it [a state hosptial psychiatrist pulls down more than $250,000.00 a year, and Psych Techs close to one hundred thousnad a year!

Yet the state is always whining about being broke! I say but the lethal injection back in business, or reopen the gas chamber. Or give the condemend the option of hanging or firing squad, but lets empty death row! Some have been there close to 40 years, and it is not going to end. Most are dying there from natural causes, and the cost to taxpayers to maintain death row is considerably more than to house a regular inmate!

I don't mind if they dump death row, because at least the victims family have closure!

But like Salty said, they may end up finding a loophole to get out. And as you say, what they may suffer in their death, can't be any worse than what the did to the victims.

No. In fact, I'm in favor of firing squads and public broadcast of executions.

All the media is concerned about is the suffering this guy went through after he'd been given the lethal cocktail.:BangHead::tonofbricks: What about the suffering of his victims? They're still suffering due to this man's actions in 1991.

That sounds like the thinking of someone who believes vengeance is his instead of God's.

Perhaps God is using these instances to show us that He hasn't intended for man to take another man's life.

That too sounds like the thinking of someone who believes vengeance is his instead of God's.

Shall a Holy God give each of us what we deserve?

    Matthew 22:36-40

36 “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?”

37 Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.

I feel bad for the Dietz family, as the killer of the daughter and father will now be used in a liberal campaign against the biblically mandated death penalty.

Sorry he suffered. I'd have chopped his head off.

You may think you can condemn such people, but you are just as bad, and you have no excuse! When you say they are wicked and should be punished, you are condemning yourself, for you who judge others do these very same things. 2 And we know that God, in his justice, will punish anyone who does such things. 3 Since you judge others for doing these things, why do you think you can avoid God’s judgment when you do the same things? 4 Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin? Romans 2:1-4

One would think that after Jesus went to the Cross to keep us from getting what we deserve that the repentant sinner's default would always be mercy.

Praise God for HIS mercy even when those who have been forgiven have none to show.

Wow, this modern day Christianity is starting to sound and look a lot like Islam.

What about giving them a choice on manner of execution? They can choose the lethal injection, hanging, electric chair, etc..
I really don't get the issue with lethal injection. Medical persons have to try NOT to accidentally overdose people to death. I was accidentally overdosed once when being moved between floors - they injected my iv before I left and then on arrival. I remember thinking "oh crud this is wrong" and breathing super light, but hearing myself snoring loud and feeling like my heart was beating real slow, then that was it. I woke up a couple hours later with monitors.
    I didn't suffer.
And so when they argue over whether the guy was snoring or gasping for breath, I feel like it may have been both, but he probably had no clue and was out. I only remember about fifteen seconds, and that was just one drug.

Some might think that a bit inhumane too. Suppose God said: Hey Gina. I want you to choose how you're gonna die on July 25th. Your options are:

    A) You'll be cut in half in a car accident and briefly left alive to realize that you're about to die;

    B)You're gonna fall and hit your head in the shower, covering the drain with your unconscious body, and the shower fills enough to cover your face and you drown;

    C) Or how about in the middle of a rainstorm you get out of your car and a powerline breaks and lands in the water that you're standing in and you're electrocuted but you don't immediately die. You lay there on the grown and smell your charred flesh and then you die.

What if God let us choose from His options?

Nothing modern about it. And you sound like a sanctimonious SNIP

He was not executed for refusing to convert. Nice try. You must really be full of hatred to throw up such a red herring.

So Jesus regularly advocated chopping off people's heads?

And you sound like you've got some real anger issues that need to be placed at the foot of the Cross.:flower:

Did Jesus condemn the hanging of the thieves on each side of Him?
