Michael, personally I am not a member of any denom other than Christian (for which I am deeply committed).
"Christian" is not a denomination, unless" you are talking about the "Christian Church" which is Church of Christ and/or Disciples of Christ
You would leave when the pastor leaves? So you are looking up to a man? So what if you will be 80? If possible we should "not forsake the assembly of ourselves together". If you are going to quit church membership - does that mean you are going to quit your American Membership (citizenship)?
Our church has an interesting roll. It includes the Memorial roll. If you come face-to-face with Christ, while a member of our church, you name is placed on the memorial roll!

Yep, I could. We used to be part of a Presbyterian church and other than infant baptism (which the church took a very Biblical stand on - and it was our equivalent of baby dedication - and one had to be baptized again as an adult), they were really right on. Unfortunately, they are PCUSA and struggling with those issues right now.
Otherwise, there are any number of evangelical churches in the area that we absolutely could be a part of.

Would any of you drive 60 to 90 minutes to attend church?

He is one of the very few pastors I have known who is very intelligent, knows that he doesn't know everything, and whom I trust 100% to keep confidences. He only preaches "Christ and him crucified" and avoids politics from the pulpit. He wants no part of "worship teams" or electronic amplifiers. He was raised a Baptist and understands that dispensationalism and civil religion has contaminated the Reformed Faith.

Most people at 80 should not be driving 60 miles a day on the longest parking lot in the world AKA I-5.

Only if it would bring peace to my soul and would be useful to the congregation.

If God called me to, I would. Right now, we drive 30 minutes - 25 miles each way.
I see myself as being a christian attending a baptist church, and could be an Evagekical free church attender, even though they are 'free will"!
That would not be my preference.
1. The church would not be within the confines of my community & I believe in community.
2. Economically I am prohibited (High price of gas, travel time & mileage on a 10 yr old car)
That's pretty normal for where you & I live....but not optimum. Since the last 2 years have come & gone, I've finally taken an active roll in community (both politically, socially & spiritually). I'm ashamed that for too long I did nothing but focus on job & career objectives without taking civic responsibilities seriously. Since becoming a Christian, I have begun to focus on this & now think the work is making a difference. Hope you understand.
Are they? I did not know that....are they the group that tried to blend Lutherens with Calvinists....they got those churches in Germany.
How bout communion....do they also believe in Con Substation....IE the real presence of Christ in the bread & wine. If so, no baptist should ever touch them.

I spoke to a pastor from EV who was not very supportive of Doctrines of Grace....very mamby pamby regarding doctrine. I got the impression they were very bland & milk toasty. Church of the group hug, contemporary music, contemporary mindset, not a great sermon environment & a bunch of yuppies in a yuppy town. Thats why I didnt pursue them.

The Evangelical Free Church is now a generic Protestant Christian Church. I met with them for most of ten years while I was living on Vashon Island in WA. Two of my personal "heros of the faith" are a EFC preacher and his wife, Stan and Lois Salapka.

the ones here in Mi would be like evangelical arminian SBC... They hold to fully inerrant/inspired bible, Second coming, Communion, believers baptism etc...
Salty....Im much more comfortable in a church thats both baptistic & reformed but I would have to drive a distance. I reached out to the Reformed Baptists about a church plant & they wouldnt even entertain it.

Key to my take on the OP was IF could not be a baptist church...
I would want to be in a church that teaches those things as they do, and would deal with them being not calvinistic in doctrines...
