    STORY

If the story is accurate, two policemen should be fired. Today.

    Wow.

You cant trespass on a public street unless the police officers expressly forbade one from going that way (like a road block, and that is criminal trespass).

I normally dont second guess what a police officer does, as I wasnt there and not in their shoes, but I agree that this sounds like really poor police work.

Sounds like an attitude problem that could get her killed...

If I were this young couple I'd already have court papers filed...

There's something fishy about that story.

Don't get me wrong, I do know that there are cops out there who are bad, but this is just so over the top that there's something about it that doesn't ring true.

    It sounds suspicious to me!
What kind of man would ask directions?

    I keep telling my wife:

    "It's dangerous to ask directions.
    I'll find the way!
    We'll just drive a little farther." ;)

Righton, Deacon, make us men-folk proud.

As I said in the beginning..."if this is accurate." For all we know, they were mean drunk...or, they may have been good citizens who were horribly mistreated.

But it does sound like that the policement were a bit quick to the draw...and I tend to be about as pro-law enforcement as they come.

I grew up in the Northern Virginia area, just 29 miles from D.C..

That being said, I have been into D.C. and Maryland countless times and can tell you, even people who live in those areas occasionally stop you and ask directions.

It is easy getting turned around in that area because of the many streets that are 'one way', or heavy traffic not allowing someone to get in lane needed. So I can understand the stopping and asking for directions.

Would I advise it? Not at all! The crime rates are higher in those areas close to the capital for some reason.
