I think an overview of the game is in order. I am completely ignorant about the rules, but somehow I think it is similar to baseball, but I don't think so.

Australia just won the third and final test against South Africa, thus winning the series 2-0, with one draw.

Highlight (apart from winning of course) was Ricky Ponting scoring a century in each innnings of his 100th test match. The first and only person to do it thus far.

    Regards
    Bob

    Ashes cough....cough :D </font>[/QUOTE]Now that was unusual ....

(for those that don't know, Australia actually lost the series 2 - 1 to England, think it was the first time in living memory)

English cricket is now on a different plane you see, we can lose a series and not worry anymore - we have the Ashes urn to look at instead [IMG] [IMG]

Sorry, missed posting a couple of One Day International results, but the goodnews is Australia are doing well. We won last night against Sri Lanka, a match that showed a return to form by Adam Gilchrist.

i the last weekSri Lanka also lost to South Africa as well. So it looks as though after the preliminary set of matches finishes its Australian tour that Australia will play either Sri Lanka or South Africa in the finals. Just like the Australian Cricket Board wanted.

    Regards
    Bob

When in the Bahamas a couple years ago I was on a cricket pitch and impressed. Very odd game compared to any US sport, but was interesting (for a few minutes).

Dr Bob, THE true cricket takes 5 days ... there is a short version, the One Day Internationals, fun, but only really a taster for the real thing.

Talking of which, Australia just beat South Africa again, means Aus is in the finals of the ODI, South Africa and Sri Lanka play off on Tuesday to see who gets to join them.

    Regards
    Bob

Well, Sri Lanka beat South Aftica and got into the finals....

Now, the best of three finals series ..
Today (Friday) Sri lanka beat Australia to take a 1 - 0 lead ...

Hopefully Aus were hholding back to make the 3rd match necessary .. (didn't look it though )
