Cruz campaign yanks anti-Rubio ad after viewers spot adult film actress

Republican Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign quickly pulled the plug on a new ad promoting his conservative Christian values after some viewers recognized one of its stars from adult movies.

The Texas senator’s ad, “Conservatives Anonymous,” depicts a group therapy session of voters who felt betrayed by Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) for abandoning the Tea Party values that got him elected in 2010.

Amy Lindsay, the star of several softcore porn films, plays one of the voters, saying, “Maybe you should vote for more than just a pretty face next time.”

The Cruz campaign removed the ad from YouTube after Lindsay’s previous credits were revealed.

A campaign spokesman issued a statement saying Lindsay had responded to an open casting call, passed her audition and won the role.

Unfortunately, she was not vetted by the production company,” Cruz spokesman Rick Tyler told Buzzfeed. “Had the campaign known of her full filmography, we obviously would not have let her appear in the ad.”

Lindsay told Buzzfeed that she was a conservative Christian and a Republican like Cruz, and she pointed out that she had not performed in hardcore pornography and had also appeared in non-erotic films.

She initially said the campaign staffer who hired her was “absolutely” aware of her previous work, she later called Buzzfeed back to say that was not the case.

“I assumed that they knew, but none of the filmmakers or the casting director knew about my complete filmography in the past,” she said.

Lindsay, who said she hasn’t decided whether she’ll vote for Cruz or Donald Trump in the GOP primary election, said she thought her identity might have helped draw some voters to Cruz’s campaign.

“In a cool way, then hey — then it’s not just some old, white Christian bigot that people want to say, ‘It could be, maybe, a cool kind of open-minded woman like me,’” Lindsay said.

Sooooooo. Somebody who obviously supports Cruz was watching this ad and "recognized" the "adult movie" star?Sneaky

YIKES!. If he's gonna look that cold and constipated, he needs to remove every "I'm Ted Cruz and I approve this message" from his ads.

Anybody who saw the commercial could have "spotted her". It could have been one of those kooks over at PMSNBC for all I know. This is a non-issue but it's yet another example of Cruz's many many recent mistakes.

He should have let the ad stand. I didn't think it was a particularly good ad at all (cliched theme, negative only, presumed more knowledge of current events than to reasonably assume) but Ted should have never pulled it. Cruz is behind in most places, trying going negative on Trump instead. But what is worse is his ongoing association with Glenn Beck.
