Maybe I have been walking around with my eyes closed, and maybe I am just not seeing it today, but there seems to be no mention of D-Day.

I have checked out several sites and it is absent in them all. Instead we have lots of tripe about it being 6/6/6!

Hopefully individuals have remembered even if the biased and agenda focused media have ignored this memorial day.

    Amen, mnw!

As a retired military person who has served in Europe, I too have wondered why there is so much emphasis on various apocalyptic theories that will probably never occur, compared to the reality of something that actually DID take place 62 years ago today.

Were it not for the courage and sacrifice of those brave men and women of that era, I doubt seriously if we would be able to freely post what we do here at BB.

Parting thought: D-Day does not stand for Dooms Day!

I believe D-Day to be America's finest moment. Thanx for reminding us, MNW.

In Canada, the Legion holds a parade and lays wreaths at the local centotaphs to remember those who paid the supreme price and those who remain to this day. It is a full parade as is Nov 11th.

    We will remember.

    Cheers,

    Jim

I saw an excellent show on PBS last night about the new WWII memorial in DC, narrated by Tim Russert. Though I have always tremendously admired those veterans and that generation my opinion was that there were two many monuments in DC already, but they sold me, in the film reminders of the sacrifices and accomplishments of those veterans and that generation. They truly are our greatest generation.

Yes I think it has been forgotten by most people. I did hear some mention this morning on the radio but no one talks about it at work. 62 years means almost all of the survivors are gone and those that remain are no longer talking about it. The families of those who died are also all but gone. What was once current events is now history, something to be learned from a book and studied perhaps, but it just is not real anymore.

The radio this morning said over 6600 Americans fell this day 62 years ago. Over 1000 Canadians and 2500 British soldiers as well. A great day when our nations stood together.

Thanks for the link ktn4eg, that was great.

The only reference to D-Day I've seen so far was a show on The Discovery Channel about the Normandy invasion. There has been more talk about 666 than about D-Day. That's a shame.

I have read the local paper and watched the news, I have also read a couple papers on the web and seen nothing. I had to check to make sure you were not mistaken in the date of D day. You are not, it has been forgotten.

Alot of articals about 6/6/6 though, what a crock.

Rhonda Vincent has a couple of songs in tribute to our military personnel on her new album, "All American Bluegrass Girl". They are very good. The lyrics are at www.rhondavincent.com under the link on the left to the album.

I agree with you. It is as if D-Day has never happened. How sad.
