Several years prior to the D-Day invasion--------General of the Army George Marshall called Lt. General Dwight Eisenhow into his office in Washington, DC-------------Give me what it will take to win the war

In 45 minutes time-------Eisenhower sketched out a plan on a single sheet of tablet paper---his plan

Its ironic that Ike had a hand written resignation ready to turn in to General of the Army George Marshall just in case the invasion failed

With a war on the Eastern Front and with pressure on Italy and with the invasion of the French coast and the establishment of a Western front---the Germans KNEW then that for them---the war was lost---2 years before it actually ended

The Allies on the other hand----even as late as 2 months prior to
Germany's surrender in May, '45----had not convinced themselves that for them(the Allies)---the war was won!!!!
