Dagon is the work of men's own hands, an idol, IMO.

Isaiah 2:8 (KJV) Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made:

Agreed. I am reminded of that great passage from Isaiah:

Isaiah 44:13-20
13 The carpenter stretcheth out his rule; he marketh it out with a line; he fitteth it with planes, and he marketh it out with the compass, and maketh it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man; that it may remain in the house.
14 He heweth him down cedars, and taketh the cypress and the oak, which he strengtheneth for himself among the trees of the forest: he planteth an ash, and the rain doth nourish it.
15 Then shall it be for a man to burn: for he will take thereof, and warm himself; yea, he kindleth it, and baketh bread; yea, he maketh a god, and worshippeth it; he maketh it a graven image, and falleth down thereto.

The Bible also says that those who worship or sacrifice to idols are worshiping demons:
Lev. 17.7
Deut. 32.17
Ps. 106.37
1 Cor 10.20-21

I think while idols are just statues, apparently worshiping them or sacrificing them causes a connection to demons so that it ends up you are worshiping evil spirits.

 

What happened to Dagon when the Philistines "parked" the Ark next to it?????

 

1 Samuel 5:2 (KJV) When the Philistines took the ark of God, they brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon.
3 And when they of Ashdod arose early on the morrow, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the LORD. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again.
4 And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the LORD; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left to him.

These things provoke God to jealousy.

Deuteronomy 32:16 (KJV) They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations provoked they him to anger.

Deuteronomy 32:21 (KJV) They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.
22 For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.

 

The original questions: "Did God create Dagon? Is Dagon a part of the invisible Principalities and Powers of the kingdom of darkness?" IMO, I see Dagon as simply one man-made representation of the various angels God made who later chose to fall with Satan. The same demon can be known by different names by people and be represented differently in different cultures.

 

I believe Dagon was a man-made myth and idol. The full description of Dagon is that he had the face and hands of a man, and the body of a fish. It sounds a lot like the standard legends of Posidon or mermaids, etc.

I'm always flabbergasted at the nonsense people will try to worship. From golden calves they form with their own hands to statues of 1/2 men 1/2 fish, to wealth obtained on the stock exchange, to power obtained through education or wealth or fame.

Life would be so much more joyous if we just worshipped the one true God.
