"Dancing Makes Me Angry"

I was forced to learn square dancing in a public school. It was a part of the classes.

I wish I would have been part of a church that prohibited it, especially when I was turned over to a guy with warts on his hands. AND he saw me wipe my hands after he let go AND got upset and asked me why, which led to lying when I felt bad and said "oh, it's not you, my hands are sweaty!"

See what dancing leads to?

 

there was a time that i hated social dancing.

but now i like a little of it during parties. it's quite a source of relief and relaxation, especially if you are comfortable with the people you are having fun with.

but if it's dancing in the church, then it's a no-no!

 

I can't dance and don't want to.

....wanna know why Baptists don't believe in dancing? because most of them can't sing, let alone dance!

why not try finding out how many of the baptists you know of dance while nobody can see them?

This is one of those issues I have mixed emotions on. Even so, I do think that slow dancing is more arrousing, especially or men.

So before we got married my wife and I agreed to a "No Slow Dancing" policy where neither of us engages in dancing with someone else where it involves a slow song and/or touching of any kind.

We haven't had to apply this "policy" anywhere as we've not found ourselves in a situation where there has been any dancing. However, a situation is arrising with her sister's upcoming wedding in the spring where my wife is in the wedding party and the bride-to-be wants a "wedding party only" dance.

 

The idea that dancing is taboo for baptists is ludicrous, and quite frankyly, stereotypically prejudiced. I am my family, and many of my baptist friends very enjoy music and singing and dancing - even at church. The Psalms have many examples that extol the merits of music and singing and dancing as a part of our worship unto the Lord. The Bible tells us to love God with all of our being - well, for us that means with song and dance as well.

As for those that don't like dancing because of some poor memory of it from school, you might consider that it is not the dancing that makes the memory poor, but rather something else you associate with the dancing.

 

The solution to that Deadman is to make you one of the wedding party!

I have to say, while I don't believe all dancing is bad, I personally wouldn't dance with a man that wasn't my husband. I just wouldn't be comfortable with that. (not that I can dance either, but I can SING! )

 

I learned ballet and tap dancing as a child. I love them both. I suppose lots of Baptists were offended by the dancing on Lawrence Welk??? Fred Astaire must have been a horror!

I learned a lot of folk dances in grammar school, including square dancing. Loved them.

I learned ballroom dancing in junior high school.

Some people look at the sexual gyrations of popular 'dancing' today and forget that there are a lot of other kinds of dancing. For some of us, it is a wonderful way to express joy and/or move to music. Or maybe just to enjoy rhythm. Children often 'dance' quite intuitively just because they hear music. One of the joys of my retarded son's life is to put his arms on my shoulders and 'dance' -- we sort of sway back and forth to some music that is on his CD. He loves the Strauss waltzes and some of the upbeat folk music and will often want to 'dance' to them. It only lasts a few minutes, but it's about as far from sinning as anything I know!

 

Grandma wouldn't allow any dancing or card playing for anyone, but somehow it was okay when Lawrence Welk did it. I think she saw every show he ever made.

 

I think you should be exocommunicated. No Baptist in her right mind would ever consider "dancing". How could you?

I'm the photographer. And I wasn't asked to be in the party itself. But from what my wife was just saying, she can't be there anyway as our newborn will be less than a month old. So I think this will work itself out on it's own without and issues anyway.

And I wouldn't want to dance with anyone other than her, either.

shhh don't tell anyone...but at our wedding reception there were 2 baptist preachers doing the YMCA...

 

They weren't what God would really have as preachers, simply because we all should know that "Men At WorK" are predominately sodomites, besides, I don't see David dancing before the Lord in anything less than a preistly garment, nor do I see him dancing with undulating hips or breastsm "bust-a-moving"

What amazes me is how ignorant of the Bible so many professing "separated" (uh-oh, there goes that carnal and flesh desiring mentality about to strike at me again)Christians really are concerning the issues I read daily in BB.

Dance has it's appropiate time, done in a moral fashion, but to allure and provoke? Not.

 

Actually, "YMCA" was performed by the Village People, and of all the members who have been in that group over the years, most have been straight.
