Daniel's 70 weeks

Thank you for saying some things I've been trying to pinpoint for awhile.

Brief overview of temple history:

Built by Solomon, 900s BC

Destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar, about 586 BC

Temple restored, finishing around 516 BC

Fell into disrepair, restored about 165 BC

Restored and beautified by Herod The Great, beginning about 20 BC

Destroyed by Romans under Titus, 70 AD

As Jews thought of restoring it again, they were dispersed throughout the various nations of Europe, Asia, & North Africa by the Roman Caesar Hadrian, 135 AD.

The plans and the financing for a new Temple are in place, and they HAVE been, since early in the history of modern Judah.(Israel) Much of the required stone is already stored in Israel, including a large cache of marble from the USA. And, contrary to popular belief, the Temple site is IMMEDIATELY NEXT TO the Dome of the Rock, so it won't necessarily hafta be destroyed before the Temple can be rebuilt. However, the Jews don't want to provoke the entire Moslem world( at least, at this time) by erecting their Temple so close to the Dome. But we see the military power of the Jews growing almost daily. Some day, they WILL defy the Moslems by erecting a temple on its old site.

Several clear, prophetic events have occurred within my lifetime(I'll be 57 in April.)...the restoration of Judah as a sovereign nation, growing in wealth and military power...the vast increase in travel and knowledge...the Jews' having JERUSALEM as their capital again. What do I think is just around the corner? First will be the almost total destruction of the Palestinians (Philistines) by the Jews. No rocket science needed to see that coming. This could well be the catalyst that causes the Jews to build the temple, as some other nations will doubtlessly try to help the Pals, but too late. Israel and Israel alone will accomplish this conquest within a few days, and will repel any efforts by other nations to stop them. I believe the Temple will then be built very shortly thereafter. Then will come the restoration of the rest of Israel as one nation with Judah.

I'll not get into the things concerning the Antichrist at this time as the thread is about the events except to say he is of Roman descent (coming from the people who SHALL destroy Jerusalem, as J was already destroyed in Daniel's time. This doesn't necessarily mean he will be an Italian, although many who equate him with a Pope like to sayso. There were Romans scattered all along the Mediterranean Coast, Iberian Peninsula, and the British Isles.)

But...indeed Scripture does NOT call for consecutive "weeks". The Jews did not have a sovereign nation of their own from about 605 BC till 1948 AD, MUCH longer than 490 years. In all that time they were the MOST-HATED people on earth, not being welcome anywhere until the 1600s in North America. Their punishment has been so great because they saw what happened to the rest of Israel for idol-worship, and yet outdid the rest of Israel by not only worshipping the false gods introduced by Solomon & Jeroboam, but going out and finding NEW IDOLS to worship in addition to the old ones.

The "times of the gentiles" is drawing to a close, as Israel assumes more and more control of Jerusalem.

Anyone think ones eschatological view doesn't matter. We are heading down the road of a self fulfilling Armeggedon led by LaHaye and his ilk.
