northern Kentucky man is in jail today – serving a 180-day sentence – because his 18-year-old daughter failed a math test and didn't get her General Equivalency Diploma, or GED, as a previous court order required.

This is ridiculous, punishing the father of an adult.

A dumb daughter does not always mean a negligent father.

Does any one still doubt that logic is 99% dead?

I'm not sure I would call her dumb, she's passed all the test except math, and she's working on that. She just failed to get the GED by the deadline.

Look, the Dad is not in jail because his daughter failed a math test. He is in jail because he had custody of her and failed to keep her in school. He is in jail because he disobeyed a court order. The judge ordered him to get her to get her GED.

The girl is 18 and according to the article has been going to school for 4 months. Where was she for the last 3 years? There was a previous court order directing the father to ensure his daughter went to school. He failed to follow it. He goes to jail. That is as it should be.

The judge says if she gets the GED the father will get out early.

Also in the article, the daugher started skipping school at age 16 and has a 18 month old daughter.

The judge was obviously worried about the welfare of this girl and ordered her father to ensure she went to school. The father did not obey the court order. What do you think they should do to him?
