DEAN: Iraqi PM is anti-Semite

I've heard it said (don't remember by whom) that it is absurd to expect Iraq to be both a democracy and pro-Israel.

 

A politician would have to be a complete fool to believe that muslims will cease to be anti-simite just because they were democratically elected.

I am wondering if it is absurd to expect Iraq to be a democracy or a democratic republic? I just doesn't seem that the religious atmosphere of most middle east countries would allow for such.

Frankly, that's what worries me about theocrats in our own country.

 

If your talking about people like Pat Robertson and those of his ilk (dominionist), I agree. I do not however believe that every evangelical Christian who seeks the Lord's guidance and desires to live in a godly country would fall into this category.

I think this movement of theocracy and reconstructionism could continue to gain steam , because it means "power" and that power will shove things down the perceived enemies throat . Religions and especially whack job right wing religion that sees everything in "fear" and not "faith" .The temptation and shortcut is great and there are those on this board that would love to have it and dictate to those with a heavy hand.The Pharisees and Sadducees never really did die out they are alive and well in this country and especially in the middle east.The bush culture has given them room to operate and fear monger.As for the topic the reason people boycotted Malikis speech was legitimate, he would not condemn Hezbollah so all those people who are speaking out against Hezbollah but then are embracing this guy are hypocrites.Support of Israel really is bi-partisan it is the bush culture and those bushbots who want to divide along percieved labels because of fear that will keep the power and money rolling in and not the faith of honest brokers who wil actully offer service and solutions.I support Israel been there twice been to Lebanon once it is beautiful or was but Israel must be supported when it does good and be admonished when it too is heavy handed ...God is sovereign he sees all those Christian Lebanese in the south and all of Lebanon and he desires that those who do not take up armsbe safe and not shown to the curb as cold hearted "collateral damage" we seemto use as an excuse much to often and so easily.
