The Clintons made over $200,000,000 since they left office in 2000. They are part of the 1%.
We are all part of the 1%. If our household income is more than $34,000 per year we are in the 99th percentile world wide.
That's not what the 1% refers to. It is used to denote the American upper class.
I know how it is used. And it is used wrongly by ignorant people. They have a warped little parochial outlook that assumes their pathetic little lives are the norm. They're not. We Americans are some of the richest people the world has ever known, on average.
When my wife and I took a missions trip to the Philippines the first thing I encountered was the idea, expressed by many of the Filipino people, that because I was an American I must be very rich. I kept telling them that I was just a common, middle class person. Not rich at all.
After spending 7 weeks traveling out into the provinces I came to understand something. The average monthly wage in the city was $200 per month. And the average monthly wage in the rural areas was $100 per month.
Many of the homes we visited had dirt floors and some did not have electricity or indoor plumbing. Virtually nobody, except the genuinely rich, owned their own cars.
As we were getting on the plane to go home my wife said to me, "I learned something on this trip." "So did I" was my reply. I said that I discovered that we are, indeed, rich. And she laughed and said "I was going to say the same thing."
Now I am retired, living on my fixed retirement income, and am still one of the 1% world wide.

You seem to like to argue definitions with me all the time. What is that all about? And I have yet to agree with your definitions. Do you really believe that you posted something that I did not learn 55 years ago?
As for the American reference to the 1%, it is Democrat terminology about the upper class and is a standard political term in spite of your attempted deflection. The Clintons with their lies and their selling of access from the time of Hillary's tenure as Secretary of State are the epitome of white privilege.
Jedi Knight posted something poignant for Democrats of all races to consider. It seems that BLM does not operate in the murder epidemic in Chicago and other big cities such as Indianapolis but in areas where white flight is accelerating. The Clintons are white privilege--in fact, Bill Clinton is even called the white Bill Cosby.
While it is true that Trump inherited money and is rich, I doubt if Trump garnered $200,000,000 in fifteen years as the Clintons did--they admitted that they were dead broke in 2000 when they stole furnishings from the White House as they moved out.
Naw! I doubt anyone in love with her or Obama would agree with this. They are not color blind, so to speak, just victims of political tunnel vision. They believe she is broke, and the GOP lies about her.
I know this to be true because I have talked to these "die hard Hillary fans" and they are willing to have four more years of marginal economic growth, for fear that a GOP leader would ACTUALLY CREATE jobs and they'd have to go back to work and earn a living. One of these people, sad to.say, is my 46 year old daughter, who has never held a job longer then a few months, and somehow convinced SSDI that her bipolar condition, arthritis, and neuropathy are too severe to allow her to work. I am ashamed of her because I worked for 25 years with pain and depression, and I worked with hundreds of other people worse then me.
Most of those on welfare don't vote their conscience, but rather their selfish desires to remain on government assistance. I call her, and the ones I know who blindly support Clinton as being public assistance disabled.

Yes, we all know that. The point was, and is, that the so-called "99%ers" aren't, when viewed from the larger, global, perspective. They are among the most privileged, globally, yet lack the perspicacity to see beyond their own parochial provincialism and recognize their own position of privilege.
You are apparently another one of those intellectuals who are just too smart for the rest of us. I hate debating with you because you like to say how intelligent you are and because you like to imply that others are just too stupid for you. If you like Hillary, you should be really happy the next 4 years. Hillary is a liar and a thief but she is smart, huh?
This seems to be an over-reaction, though in response to what I also view as over-reaction. I'd be very surprised if TC had much, if anything, good to say about HRC, though that's for him to say, if he chooses. However, the use of "ignorant", "warped little parochial outlook" and "pathetic little lives" is unnecessarily harsh, IMO. That would be like me calling it ignorant to claim "we are all part of the 1%" when the US holds 4%+ of the world's population (thus conveniently ignoring the $34K clarification. Seems low to me, given the number of well-paid employees in the US, northern/central Europe, Japan, and the Antipodes, but that's a side issue.)
It's absolutely true that the average American is among the very richest people in the world. It's also absolutely true that when used in American politics, "the 1%" refers only to those in the US, and tossing out all that pejorative language merely distracts from the hypocrisy of people like HRC and Bernie using the term to pillory those they oppose.
It has taken pray and time to get to know that while you may be correct on some issues discussed here, you are also quite condescending towards others at times.
I do have high expectations of people, especially Christians, but, unfortunately those expectations are not always met. My life long goal as an educator has not been to impart knowledge, but to teach my students to think. Something that seems to not be in common vogue today.
Then don't debate with me.
And I don't debate. I state my opinion. And correct those opinions of others I believe to be wrong.
Perfect example of what I am talking about. Nobody with an IQ greater than his hat size could ever infer from anything I have posted that I "like Hillary."

And, in view of the crushing poverty so much of the people of earth live under I consider that type of parochialism pathetic.

I did not object to your support of the picture. I pointed out the error of the "99%"s assumption that they were not members of the same group they were protesting, the 1%. Which, quite obviously, they are.

No, I corrected the erroneous claim that middle class US residents are part of the 99% when, in fact, we are part of the 1% globally.

That's along the same lines as defining "poor".. The poor in this country have 2 cars , a big screen TV and cell phones and eat out 7 -10 times a week The poor in other countries have dirt floors, leaky roofs, dirty water to drink, and barely enough food to eat.
It's relative.
