No, not until it is given out equally. Too unfair to those of color and the poor. If it is given out equally then yes.

 

It is unChristlike to not seek/support the death of someone if they are deserving of it.

I don't care if it's given out unequally or not. Someone who murders should be put to death, regardless of the consequences faced by someone else.

Jailtime is also given out unequally to minorities and the poor, therefore, we should do away with jails until they become "equal opportunity". See how dumb that sounds?

Your statement is an insult to our Lord. Where did Jesus ever tell any of his disciples to seek the death of anyone? How can it be "unChristlike not to seek/support the death..." if we never have an example of Christ seeking the death of someone?

I voted no because the death penalty has already been pronounced. To stop someone coming to know Christ is a work of the devil I think.

The devil would like all people to die without Christ.

I can appreciate arguments that are supportive of the death penalty, but this one has no basis in fact. Where does Christ say this or model this behaviour?

 

Who but God has the right to decide who deserves death? Do we really want the secular government to have that power and make that decision?

We can not and should remove consequences of sin, there is nothing in scripture to prevent the death penalty, Jesus, nor scripture condemned the death of the 2 thieves on the cross, the o.t. teaches death penalty.
But, I think it needs to be for a sure thing, not a conviction based on circumstantial evidence, or if it wasn't premeditated.
No one is denying a sinner a chance at salvation, how long how many chance does God give? Are we saying God can't save someone before execution, after all most are on death row for years. And fact is not all(criminals or not) will be saved. I think God can do what He pleases, no matter what time we have.

 

DNA evidence has released too many wrongfully convicted people to make me believe we should execute anyone.

 

Respectable people will be lost too if they fail to accept Christ. Whats the difference? Dying of natural causes without Christ may induce more punishment then?

I am curoius what that has to do with what Donna said.

 

It is the duty of government to administer justice as fairly as it can. God expects it.
By God's own example, death is a just punishment in certain cases.
