DEATH: Where do we go when we die?

1Pe 3:19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
Since this is the only passage in the New Testament upon which the Roman Catholic doctrine of "purgatory" is supposed to rest, and also refutes the erroneous tale of the SDA's "soul sleep" we should be able to kill two birds with one stone.
The Believer at death:
1. The soul of the believer at death enters the presence of the Lord, Luk 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
2. The spirits of the believer are with God, Ecc 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
3. The Believer is alive and conscious in the presence of the Lord, Luk 16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
Luk 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
The unsaved at death:
1. They are in prison, why put an unconscious soul under guard? 1Pe 3:19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
2. They are in torment and conscious suffering,
Luk 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments,
3. They are being punished, Luk 16:24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
When the dead are referred to as sleeping, Dan.12:2, Matt.9:24, and many others it is in reference to appearance and applicable only to the body.
On the other hand concerning "purgatory" a view that the suffering of the sinner is to make satisfaction for sins committed after death for a while. This is a view supported by both the Roman Catholics and the SDA. The Roman Catholics however have managed to make some money on this by someone paying the priest money to get the loved one out.

I did say you abused a woman.
What you do to this SDA woman is illegal in my
state of Oklahoma. If I knew which state you post
froml i'd check the law in that state and file charges.

You should go read my thread on "Hell - Does it burn forever and ever?" and see the correlation between these two doctrines... because if you believe you have a NATURALLY immortal soul then you will of course believe you go straight to heaven when you die... and you will also believe you would burn forever and ever in Hell too... because the wicked also have eternal life... or an immortal soul... not a very happy eternal life, but still, they'd have one.
Death and Hell will be cast into the Lake of Fire, and the Lake of Fire will burn forever and ever.Claudia_T said:

The Lake of Fire is a place of torment. All who enter it shall burn forever and ever.
Revelation 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
That includes all the unsaved.
Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Why make me repeat this Shiloh? Why not embrace the Bible instead and present your case from scripture? Show that you have some value for the text of God's word in your actions.

In Matt 10 we are told that "both body and soul are destroyed in hell fire" in the same way that the body is destroyed in this life when the wicked slay the righteous.
I for one believe God's word on this.
No text for "immortal soul " in all of scripture -- that is why 1Thess 4 references those who "have fallen asleep" as "The Dead in Christ".
