Amazing Video! Padre, why doesn't the state of NY want anyone to invite their neighbors in for breakfast?

Chronic wasting disease they claim. Apparently state studies show that artificial feeding makes the deer "yard up" longer than when they forage naturally. That extends the potential for one CWD deer infecting many.

I know many states allow feeders or, as in this video, a breakfast table.

Ugggh, deer are in rut around here and a bit skiddish.

I almost ran one down this morning on my way to work.
Turns out the main predator around here is the SUV
A neighbor has seen a few coyotes recently hopefully that will keep those antlered rats in check.

Why would anybody want to tame them?

That is unfortunate unless they were to take them in and protect them from now on.

We have kamikaze deer here, that have perfect timing, that wait till just the right moment to jump from the bushes at night in front of your automobile and inflict great and expensive to repair damage, and just generally turn your world upside down for a while. I have been attacked, sucessfully, four times now, by these terroristic, suicidal animals, and have had two vehicles totaled by these attacks.

I promise to do my best to reduce the deer population by all legal means come November. If I save just one Buick, I will have done my part.

The coyotes will be more of a problem than the deer. If you have an outside pet, don't get too attached. Keep an eye on the indoor pet when you let it out for its constitutional. You even have to keep an eye on the kidlings!

It is my theory that there is also a deer Mafia. A couple of "enforcer" bucks, Vinny and Guido,:tongue3: toss deer in front of cars when they fall out of favor with the "Family."

"If you ever miss one, it's because the bullet's moving too fast. Slow
the bullet down to 55 miles an hour, put some
headlights and a little horn on it --
    the deer will actually jump
    in front of the bullet."

We live adjacent to 3400 plus acre power company property that is thick with wildlife; deer are like sheep here. My wife takes a young sweet tender 18mo virgin doe every year for the freezer.

I really hate to ask this, but what is a virgin doe? If it's what it sounds like, how on earth does anyone know? And how do you know it's 18 mos? And where did I leave my hairbrush?

 I figgered someone might ask......An 18 month old virgin doe is a last year's fawn that hasn't come into heat yet. You get familiar with who's who and who's whos' when you live amongst them like we do, and, for the trained eye they're not hard to spot. It's very common to see an older mother doe with one or two fawns from this year and the fawn from last year still with her. These 18 mo old does tend to be good quality along with good quantity meat. We don't hunt for the horns, however young bucks are good eating too. I just think the does are better for eating.
