Here's what I'm thinking:
The first part of the verse is about a 'tree of life;' somwhere that people can come, if they so choose, and obtain life, just like we can with an orange tree and oranges. Thus, a wise person is one who has available anwers to questions (and lives in a way that provokes questions) regarding eternal life. In other words, we should live in a way ready to answer anyone who comes to us desiring the truth, and if we are wise, we will win souls to Christ this way.
Bad interpretation?
