New York City Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said the suspect, who was not identified, was struck at least once in the head during the gun battle, with police firing a total of 15 rounds at him.

“It is by the grace of God today,” he said, that no one besides the gunman was struck.

The man had a lengthy criminal history and was carrying a backpack containing a can of gasoline, rope, wire, tape, knives and a well-worn Bible, Shea said.

The police commissioner called the actions of the officers “heroic.”

Mr Shea said: "I think we can all surmise the ill intentions of the proceeds of this bag."

I am in favor of defunding the police. Let the cesspool areas burn themselves out and kill each other off.

Defunding the police is just a hint. The left loves to give hints, like when we were told over & over, well before the election, that it was going to be a protracted outcome. It makes them feel smart when they tell you stuff that they already know will happen, because they are making it happen. Hillary went on about the Russians during the debates, & I remember thinking.....what is she talking about?! Oh yeah, the Russians.
Same with defund the police, they are telling you that the UN will be guarding our streets, & we won’t need to have police anymore. No more racist cops, bad cops, or American cops. No one will have weapons in a perfect leftist world, & we should be easy to control at that point. We will already know that their vote is our vote, so no more division over politics.......can’t wait.
They will start with bringing in the UN to remove Trump, & go from there. They can’t wait to bring real, global, change. It’s their true bread & butter. They really don’t like us as we have been........but they will like us better when we are brought to heel.

"The ill intentions of the proceeds of this bag" don't seem to have much to do with the man carrying it. So far, all I see is suicide by cop. The report sounds like the man was not shooting at anyone or doing anything with the bag or its contents. Maybe there will be more useful information. I don't, however, see this as a matter for "social workers" to handle.
