Majority Leader Harry Reid, head of the Democrats, and Sen. Trent Lott, the Republicans’ No. 2 leader, recently commiserated with each other on the Senate floor, in an orchestrated public reprimand of one senator.
Their target: U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint, the Greenville Republican who had challenged a rule that prevents major changes to spending bills once they reach the Senate floor.
