Here's an idea:

Why not just get John Kerry's swift boaters together again and have JK lead the assault landings on Syria's shores?:smilewinkgrin::smilewinkgrin:

(Syria is a lose - lose situation no matter what we do [or don't do] about it.)

I was thinking that Kerry voted for the war in Iraq on the basis that there were WMDs in Iraq. It is a pity that the Democrats put a political hack like Kerry as Sec. of State. It makes one embarrassed for the country that he is in that position. Of course, Hill wasn't very good either. You would think that the Democrats would have some talent somewhere.

More likely the "rebels" (media talk for Al Qaeda and Qatari mercenaries) got them from either the Saudi's or Israel to be used to swing public opinion in favor of bombing another sovereign nation "into the stone age" so Al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood can take it over.

Why are we supporting our enemies in the "war on terror" and handing them whole countries (and their arsenals) after we destroy the economy and infrastructure deposing the ruling regime for them again?

Well Poncho, we have to keep in mind that it is God's plan for ushering in the false peace maker Antichrist so He can then usher in the Lord God Jesus Christ! It must get ALOT worse brother before it gets GREAT!

Here is an idea, how about the United States keeping its nose out of it for one time since World War 2. If the situation in Syria is really that dangerous to the national security interests of the United States, Congress should declare war on Syria. Then, the victory should be sure and swift, and the exit should be rapid. No lingering, no hesitation. Either fight to win or stay home.

But keep in mind, God wants the whole world involved in the middle east! Birthing pains! We are not of this world, we are to preach Christ and keep busy until God completes His plan. If we keep the right perspective, it might be scary, but it is exciting to see the seconding coming getting closer. But we must witnesses the world's decline into chaos, which will be hard to watch, but should motivate us into an urgency to preach the gospel!

I agree with everything in your first sentence. The 2nd sentence, not at all. There is no rapid exit from the kind of battle you are suggesting. You just leave a vacuum for the next set of bad guys to take power. And the next set is sure to be worse than the previous.

There is no controllable conflict in the middle east.

Not to "fan the flames of war" or anything, but do you remember a little get-together in a place called Vietnam?

I do. I was there. Our hands were tied. We could have won the way in six months, at any time, right up to the moment Nixon followed the advice of that idiot Sen. George Akin (D-Vermont) who said "wake up one morning and declare victory" and pack up to go home. And who tied our hands? The idiots in agreement with Akin! His fellow lawmakers!

Akin's advice has been the congressional theory of foreign policy ever since. When Congress declares war, it ends up being a morass of idiocy. Still, I'm in favor of the War Powers Act, because to not have the consensus of the people's representatives in taking such action is dictatorship. I just wish they'd vote "yes" when they have to and then shut up and stay out of it.

Yes I remember Vietnam and do not care to get into that except to say, we did not declare war there did we? The Johnson and Nixon Administrations fought the war by restraint, when in fact we had no reason to be there in the first place, except for the benefit of Bell Helicopter.

Akins advice has nothing to do with the facts. He was one member of Congress. The fact is the Constitution says to fight a war, Congress declares it. We have not chosen to do that since WW2.

If it is not worth declaring, it is not worth fighting. When one does declare war, the victory and exit should be decisive and swift. We just have to stick our nose into every situation that arises on earth. Let the Syrians figure it out.
