Deut 22:5

    The picture below is a friend of mine who is a pastor with his wife.

    As you can see she is wearing pants - which is a normal part of clothing for
    women in her home country.
    So - is she in compliance with Deut 22:5?

    *Sigh* - Not that Deuteronomy 22:5 demands compliance from Christians, but yes, she is in compliance.

    Every culture that has ever existed has garments that are common between the genders. Pants are an example of that today. Her outfit is OBVIOUSLY a woman's outfit.

    Long robes [with sometimes an outer garment] were common to both men and women when the Law was written and during Jesus' day.

    Yes, women can wear pants and men can wear kilts.

    Yes, since Deuteronomy 22:30 makes a skirt to be the apparel of a man;

    I wanted to start a new thread that "God says Women Must Wear Pants", if we still went strictly by Deuteronomy 22:5a; "The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man,"

    What else are they going to do, go naked, or wear a bathing suit, or shorts, or culottes, or Spanx, if they can't wear a skirt?

    They'd have to be being told by God they had to wear paints.

    Alas.

    You already killed that idea for a thread, by bringing balance to that text where God was micro-managing a people that were so perverse at that time and given to irregular passions, similar the the heathens, who were cross-dressing in idolatrous worship, for example, so to speak.

    It's all good.

    Thank you, for that balance and for a valuable woman's perspective on the topic.
