Did Eve lie before sin entered the world

Check this out...

Gen 3:2-3
(2)
And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
(3) But of the fruit of the tree which [is] in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

I was always taught that Eve added to God's command, thus lying about what God said...

But it was pointed out this morning in SS that Eve couldn't have told a lie because this was before sin entered into the world.. (before she ate of the fruit)

Did she lie?

If so, then when did sin enter into the world?

If so, then did Adam and Eve commit sins before they ate of the fruit?

I have to go with what I read about in Scripture here: according to Gen 3:11, it was eating of the tree that got Eve in trouble, for anything else would be speculation.

Remember, Genesis only records .00000000001% of what God and Adam/Eve talked about.

We are not privy to all the details of God's commands. I would say He probably DID say not to touch it.

Heard lots of sermons about Eve "adding" to God's Word. Ludicrous. We get a tiny 2-verse snapshot of what happened and some think it is ALL the detail.

One person commented in SS something that made a lot of common sense...

How could she eat it without touching it?

I too, am leaning toward the idea now that God told them not to touch it...

Or else Eve would have lied...
Which was an impossibility since Sin was not present in humans..

Right, if she added to God's word.. she sinned...
before sin was sin...

I think Eve was repeating what Adam told her. Remember, she was not around when the command was given.

"... and that tree there, don't even tuch it. Don't even think about touching it!"

Glad to see Adam had the same problem as I have with my wife.. In fact, it's a problem all men through history can relate to. :wavey:

Sounds JUST like the message I gave the wife a couple hours ago when she headed to JC Penney and took the checkbook AND Visa card.

She's due home in a bit.

Pray for me. :praying:

One guy in SS said the same thing LeBuick did...

God explained it to Adam...
But because women are ...

Uh...

No, better not go there...

Let's just say Adam had to spell it out for her!!!

There's a certain poster on this board, with a rather shiny head, who may be interested in this one. He says "we can never touch the stuff," when God has not told us that.
