Did God really Die Upon the Cross?

This thread reminds me of why theology gave me such a headache in seminary. All the "what if's" from the prof's blew more than a few fuses in my all ready overloaded brain.

Ethics was second on the list.

Biblical Archaeology with all the blank maps to label was third.

Hello percho

You asked 5 questions.
I will answer 2 of them.
--------------------------------------------------

The Bible says.......
2 Corinthians 5:1-4
V.1 ¶ For we know that if our earthly house of [this] tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
V.2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
V.3 If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.
V.4 For we that are in [this] tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.

I wouldn’t call this, “needing some kind of house in order to interact or acquire knowledge”; I have always seen it as they are “desiring” a body, in order to enjoy the pleasures of heaven more fully.
Heaven is a “touchy feely” place, where someone in Spiritual form, would be missing out on some things.

This is why.......
1 Thessalonians 4:14-15
V.14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
V.15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive [and] remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

Those saints in heaven(those who sleep in Jesus), are really wanting their glorified bodies, therefore the Lord will allow them to receive theirs before we get ours.

Also you asked........

I think you are asking why the Lord’s bodily resurrection was so important?
Well first of all it’s a key part of the Gospel.
Plus it’s a promise to us, that one day we will be getting a gloried body.
So you are saying , heaven the perfect place will be a whole lot of fun as long as we have a house of some sort for the soul to reside in.

In my Father's house are many dwelling places.
I go to prepare a place for you.
If I go I will come again and receive you unto my self.

How do you know what the saints in heaven really want? Are they presently naked in the presence of the Lord in heaven? The very way Paul said he did not want to be found?

In 1 Thes. 4:14 what is the (even so) tying together?

Is it not that the dead in Christ, just as Jesus was raised from the dead they, the dead in Christ will be raised from the dead and brought with Jesus to rule with Jesus?

2 Tim. 4:1 I charge [thee] therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
Luke 1:32 The Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
Acts 15:16,17 After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up: That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.

The Lord and those dead in Christ that rose first and those remaining alive at his coming that he judged to meet him in the air and rule with him.

Hi percho

You asked.....
“So you are saying , heaven the perfect place will be a whole lot of fun as long as we have a house of some sort for the soul to reside in.”

Don’t you think that Heaven will be a real place?
I do think that there will be good food to eat in heaven;
And as Jesus explained, a spirit can not enjoy good food.
------------------------
Next you asked.....
“How do you know what the saints in heaven really want? Are they presently naked in the presence of the Lord in heaven? The very way Paul said he did not want to be found?”

You have a point.
But it is clear, that they do not have their glorified bodies yet;
Therefore, they are simply in Spirit form.

For sure, there isn’t much light found in the Bible, about this subject.
