It is obvious that Jesus drank wine in moderation, but there are zealots here who don't like the fact that the Bible doesn't support their abstinence position.

    God allowed drinking of "wine or other fermented drink" in the OT, so the argument often used that the wine had no alcohol holds no water.
    {This was in regard to God saying to use the tithe for a party if the temple was too far away to deliver it.}

    Agreed. It's also obvous by the comments that sparked this thead where Su Wei hopes to go with it. She's just trying to sow discord among believers.

    It's better just to ignore it.

    Actually, I think Jesus' drink of choice was Jack Daniels.

    Jesus spoke of not putting new wine into an old wineskin. Scientifically this prove it was in fact alcoholic wine.

    But what did Jesus prefer? Cabernet Savingon, Merlot, maybe a Riesling? Hmmm.

    Probably an Israeli wine rather than a French or German one .. and not even an Aussie wine in sight ...

    Another slant could be that Jesus did not want fresh grape juice, (new wine), put into old wine skins because He knew it would ferment.

    Sorry, Mike, but this is one of my pet peeves. Those of us who have been on the BB for a long time and think something has been talked to death should not expect those who just joined to think so. There is room for completely new discussions of old topics by the thousands who have joined since you and I did.

    </font>
Sounds to me like you are the one sowing discord. Of Su Wei's 122 posts, she has never been in any discussion here about drinking wine and it seems you are assuming her position on this subject. Grow up Mike.

    Sorry you feel that way. I'm not assuming anything. She's made he opinion very clear. Given her comments on alcohol (and, by extension those who have the liberty to enjoy it in moderation) in the music forums, I stand by my post.

    By the way, speaking of the music forums, you've never backed up any of the outrageous accusations you made against me in the "Satan's Music" thread.

    I agree. That's why I often "bump" older conversations, because I'm interested to see what the newer posters around here think.

    That's not what I was referring to. I was referring to Su Wei's judgmental and condemning attitude.

    Only because I stand by what the Bible says. You don't back up your positions with a biblical stand, only your personal feelings, so it's moot to talk with you about it. I would rather talk to someone that hasn't thrown up a wall. The Bible also state that I should put to use the pearls I have for those that would rather listen to them than tread on them. You have no respect for Bible truth, so Bye-bye. [IMG]

    worthy of discussion. Would anyone care to enlighten? </font>
Su Wei, from this comment, I would gather that this person is equating social drinking with it's use for medicinal purposes. I don't recall any Bible verses stating that Jesus actually drank wine. It is assumed that he did.

    Being a Jew and under the Law, yet perfect and without sin and also the perfect lamb for sacrifice and the High priest, he would have followed the Law and not put a fermented [contaminated] beverage into his body.(Lev 10:9-10)

    As has been explained to you by me and others, the reason I don't quote scriture concerning music is because the Bible is silent about it and I refuse to use prooftexts to make a case.

    Another untrue and unfounded accusation.

    You do know that the Bible says that the Lord hates a lying tongue, don't you?

    I hate to break this to you but if you feel compelled to lie about me, that says a lot more about you than it does about me.

    </font>
Very true, Karen. This also goes for those that believe that everyone reads every topic and every quote the is written on the BB.

    Mike, this is a new topic. Keep your emotional responses from another topic where it came from. All may go to that topic and read the responses from both sides, if you have a couple of hours to spend on it.
    Any such thing as Satan's music?

    You know what buttons to push to get a topic locked, don't you?

    All I did was to ask whether or not you plan to back up your false accusations against me. If that's too much for you, then maybe you need to examine yourself.

    Mike; You are in the wrong forum. This one is about alcohol; not music. You chase people all over the board trying to make them answer you. You have done that to me.

    Isn't is obvious? If people don't answer you in one forum, they're not going to answer you in another.

    1Timothy 3:3 seems to say priests can't drink. And Jesus was a priest. I don't thgink he drank, ever, not a drop. But I don't see him telling anyone else they can't.
