Did you know Daylight Savings begins March 11 this year!?

This is great! This provides more time to do things outside after work.

It is a farce. No matter what time your clock reads it is; you STILL only get just somany hours of daylight.

Will somebody please be kind enough to explain to this roadrunner the logic and reasoning behind daylight saving time ?
It has always baffled me why we are told to push our clocks and watches forward an hour on certain times, and pull them back again on other times.

 

Yeah, but a huge predefined chunk of that time is occupied by mandatory office time. While I know I should use pre-office hours to do stuff, I don't, so post-office time with sunshine is welcome.

 

The idea of DST is to save energy I think. It also had soemthing to do with children going to school in the darkness, but I don't remember.

The idea came from the old guy who cut one end off his blanket and sewed it on the other to make it longer.

 

I agree! My yard needs lots of work. Any volunteers to come over and help? I'll feed you afterwards!

True. But an extra hour of sunlight after 5:00 comes in handy.

 

Did you know if your computer is over two years old
it cannot handle the change in the
time change for you at the right time?
Did you know if your compter is less than two years
old they probably didn't change the programs handling
this?

 

I wonder how many folks will use this as an excuse for being late and/or missing Sunday morning services on March 11?

It'll be interesting to see, at any rate. I've always wondered if folks would try to use that same excuse for being late for work if the time change took place early Monday morning instead of early Sunday morning....and, if they did, how many employers would accept it?

Kinda like that old question--If you serve your boss at work like you serve the Lord, how long would you keep your job?

 

It can happen, and it will happen, because some folks are just immature.

 

PLEASE DO NOT START THE CONTROVERSY ABOUT THIS, BUT
what I don't think is right about it is that now it won't be dark when the kids go out for Halloween.
But then again, maybe that's a good thing.

And yes, it's true about the computers. But it only matters to people who need to have the dates on files be EXACTLY right. If you don't care, I don't think it will much matter. Besides, you can always change the time yourself.
