Did you know the Virgin Mary was a Palestinian?

If the Virgin Mary and Joseph were living in Bethlehem today instead of 2,000 years ago, they would be driven out because the Islamists don't want Jews living there. :tear:

 

I believe they were driven out by the King of Israel, Herod, 2000 years ago because he didn't want the King of the Jews living there. They ended up in none other than Egypt, and Islamic haven, for safe harbour. Kinda ironic, huh?:godisgood:

== It is true that Mary lived in Bethlehem during a time when it was ruled by the Roman Empire. It is also true that the people living in Bethlehem (etc) believed they were oppressed and that their land was being occupied by the Roman soliders. However it is very misleading to attempt to compare Mary to the modern Palestinians. Why? Well, first of all, Mary was a Jew. Joseph was a Jew. Jesus was (is) a Jew. Mary and Joseph were married according to Jewish Law. Jesus was raised in a Jewish household. The modern Palestinians are not Jews. A second difference is that the modern Palestinians use terrorism against innocent people. Neither Mary, Joseph, or Jesus ever promoted or defended such an abominable practice (see Pr 6:17). A third difference is that Mary and Joseph worshiped the God of the Bible and not the god of Islam (many Palestinians are Muslims). This point goes back to the first point. Mary, Joseph, and Jesus were not just biological Jews (ie...direct descendents of Abraham) they were also religious Jews. They practiced their faith according to the Old Testament instructions (ie...Jewish Law). So there are some major differences between the modern Palestinians and Mary.

==Wrong. This Christmas people are not gathering to celebrate anyone's birth pains. What we are celebrating is God becoming flesh and dwelling among us. We are celebrating the fact that the promise God made through the Prophets was finally coming to pass. The Messiah, who would save His people from their sins, was now in the world. Immanuel, God is with us. Mary is only part of this in the sense that she was the woman God choose to deliever Immanuel in to this world. However He was delievered in to a Jewish world and His followers are part of the Christian religion. Muslims reject the Deity of Christ, the resurrection of Christ, and the fact that Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven (Jn 14:6). Since most Palestinians are Muslims they can't rightfully celebrate anything this Christmas or any other Christmas for that matter. Why not? Because, in that birth some two thousand years ago, God set in motion a string of events that would take some thirty years to come to pass. At the end of those events was a cross and a empty tomb. Those who reject God's Savior, Immanuel, God with us, have nothing to celebrate. That includes Muslims, Hindus, unsaved Christians, atheists, and anyone else who has rejected Christ. Their only hope is to repent, turn to Christ in faith, and follow Him. If they fail to do that they will all, no matter what their religion, race, or creed, perish in hell for all eternity.

What does Scripture say?

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life" -Jn 3:16 KJV

It is only those who believe in Jesus Christ, the only Lord and Savior, who have eternal life. The rest of humanity will perish.
